Worked up: An employee at Sunset Market Deli reports a man was "calling and making threats to rob the store" Monday. The clerk advised he used Apple Pay at a pump and on his phone it said the transaction completed but "the pump would not activate and said his card was declined." She printed off the receipt which said the transaction was canceled but the male demanded the store give him $20 worth of gas and when she refused, "he became very aggressive and shoved his cell phone towards her face to show her the transaction." She advised the transaction stated "pending" and was not paid, but told him to watch his account for a day or two to see if it goes through. She said he was displeased and loitered in the area for nearly 20 minutes before leaving, and later he started to call "screaming obscenities and demanding $20 or he would come back and rob the store."
Dogged: A Wildon Avenue resident told police one of her dogs was attacked by a neighbor's dog Monday, and showed them "a large tear in the skin near (her dog's) neck." Police spoke with the neighbor, who admitted her dog "is now being aggressive to her other animals and children" and she planned to surrender it. Sydney R. Hutchinson, 29, 129 Wildon Ave., was cited for dog-at-large.
Workplace issues: A woman told police she's being threatened by a coworker Monday. She said it's an ongoing issue due to the two of them working together. Police explained how she can get a protection order.
Sober up: A Market Street resident said an intoxicated female was causing problems on the patio with other tenants Monday. The caller said the woman was "drunk and would not leave them alone." Police asked the woman to go back to her room for the evening, which she did. The caller said it's a constant issue, so police suggested she reach out to building management about the problem.
Preventive call: An "active domestic" was reported in the 200 block of S. 5th Street Monday. Both parties said it was verbal and nothing physical happened. The female said she was worried the situation would escalate, but he told police he had his belongings packed and his ride was on the way to take him home.
Smoke in the eyes: A vehicle on Washington Street had "excessive smoke coming from the exhaust" Monday. An officer said the smoke was so thick he was "unable to see the vehicle in front of (him) and the driver "stalled the engine at the intersection of 4th and Adams street" several times, blocking traffic. He said the driver was "argumentative and stated she is just learning to drive a manual transmission."
Vandalized: A woman in the 1000 block of Gilchrist Street told police she thought someone slashed her tires overnight. She said she'd had them replaced but showed them pictures of slits in the sidewalls. She said she asked neighbors to check their camera footage.
Drifting: County watchers observed a reckless driver at the wheel of a white semi "all over the roadway, almost colliding with vehicles" Monday. Police checked the area but said the description was vague and while several commercial vehicles were in the area, no traffic violations were observed.
Served: Kevin Street, 51, East Liverpool, warrant for failure to appear Monday; Alex Slocum, 44, 110 Wildon Ave., Steubenville, bench warrant (Toronto County Court) Monday.
