Tense bunch: A man in the 3600 block of Sunset Boulevard claimed his mother had struck one of his children Saturday, but mom denied it and said her son made it up because she's trying to make him leave her home. She said he showed up unannounced with his wife and kids and "became upset" so she asked him to leave. He refused and claimed he doesn't have to because he lives there, which mom denied, and during the ensuing argument she said he threatened to assault her and her daughter. Mom said she doesn't feel comfortable with him staying there. The son insisted they'd been there a month and all of his belongings were there, including "months' worth" of clothing and bedding for them as well as their newborn. A neighbor who was present the entire time said there were no threats. Police told mom she'd have to formally evict her son if she wanted him to leave.
Familial angst: A man in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue said he broke up a fight between his son and another male who left before police arrived Friday. The son said he'd argued with their neighbor and the neighbor's daughters but then their cousin "came over and began to yell at him." He said he felt threatened so he, in turn, threatened the male who'd left. The cousin told police the neighbor's son was grabbing at his waistband and said he was going to "pop" him so he tried to grab him before he could but then the neighbor's dad pulled him away. Nobody wanted to pursue charges.
Helps himself: A Rosswell Avenue resident reported a stolen vehicle Sunday, telling police her son entered her home while she was sleeping and grabbed the key. She said he'd broken into the house the day before and stole a laptop while she was visiting the vehicle's owner at a Pittsburgh hospital. She wants to pursue charges.
Hasty exit: Juveniles acting out at McDonald's filed out one door as police walked in the other Saturday. Employees said they just wanted them to leave.
Kid stuff: An assault was reported in the 400 block of South Sixth Street Saturday, but the female victim said nothing had happened and she just wanted the male to return her child.
Light-fingered" An employee at AutoZone said a short female was wandering through the store and at one point was looking at the pocket knives Saturday. After she was gone the employee checked the knife display and discovered Gerber knife valued at $55 was missing.
Booked: Robin Sandy, 46, 329 Wall St., Weirton, possession of drugs and tampering with evidence. Police said Sandy, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody after a traffic stop on Euclid at Carnegie streets and report they found a small blue bottle containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine in the glove box by her seat. After arriving at the Jefferson County Jail police also reported finding a small bag containing more of what they believe to be the same substance on the floorboard where Sandy had been sitting in the cruiser, noting that the vehicle had been cleaned out earlier when it was returned to service after being out of commission more than a month and Sandy was the only person transported in it.

Hanging out: A caller told deputies he thought it odd that a driver pulled into Wolf Run Road Park and shut off his lights "was just sitting there" Sept. 15. The man was still there when deputies arrived and told them he'd been "kicked out of the house and was looking for someplace to sleep for the night." They told him it wasn't in the park.
Over the top: An Adena woman said her husband pushed her so she pushed him back, "then he took the lid off the trash can and hit her in the leg," bruising her, Thursday. She said the argument started after she confronted him about his " sex addiction." Neither of them wanted to pursue charges.
Switch flipped: A Mingo Junction area resident said she had been dating a neighbor and he'd "brought some items over to her house and left her some money on the table" Sept. 17, but returned later to "bang on the door" and when she opened it "he came barging in." She said the two of them ended up hitting each other and told deputies she broke her hand but didn't want medical treatment.
Family fuss: A man in Mingo Junction said he'd been arguing with his stepfather and stepsister Sept. 21. He said he'd gone to the house to talk to his mother but started arguing with his stepsister, and when his stepfather shut the door in his face he admitted punching it and putting a hole in it and now "everyone in the house was claiming he punched (her)." He said he didn't call right away to report it because he'd hoped everything would calm down but "it appeared no one was willing to listen to him" and he "didn't know what else to do." His mother said there was some "pushing and shoving, but nothing that required cops" and stress levels in her home were higher because the stepdaughter "was in town and her car broke down." She said she knows her son didn't hurt his step-sister but he was "screaming and yelling about people" and she told him to "leave her alone so she could calm down." She said she does want her son "to stop screaming all the time" and said "every time he gets upset he screams at everyone."
