Disturbance: A Wintersville man is facing multiple charges after alleged assaults Wednesday at the home of his estranged wife. Police say Cody J. Agresta, 32, 200 Fernwood Road, was booked into the county jail on charges of assault, domestic violence and aggravated burglary after his soon-to-be ex-wife reported he pushed his way into her home, shoving her down twice before her male companion stepped between them. The male claimed Agresta then "came after him," putting him in a headlock and twice knocking him to the floor and putting his head "partially" through the drywall, police report. Police said the man told them when the fight spilled out onto the porch, Agresta grabbed his shirt and pulled both of them over the side and into the yard, "then began to punch him in the head and face...as they both were struggling" and that he fled once he managed to get to his feet. Police said the man's head and mouth were bleeding, bruises were forming and there was "an indentation" in the wall where his head had hit.
Swapped it out: A resident in the 600 block of North Fifth Street said someone emptied the garbage from his Rubbermaid container Wednesday and stole it, leaving a cheaper one in its place.
Served: James A. Goff, 40, 527 Franklin Ave., Steubenville, warrant for breaking and entering (Wednesday).
Theft: A man in the 500 block of South Fourth Street reported the theft of a gun and an acetylene torch from his locked truck Wednesday. He said his truck wasn't damaged.
