E-bike breakout: An E-bike rider told police his brakes gave out and he crashed into a car in the 600 block of Carnegie Street Tuesday. Police said Malachi Cochran, 18, 1506 Oregon, told them he was northbound on Carnegie when he realized his bike could not stop and he crashed into a vehicle.
OVI charged: A Martins Ferry man was charged after callers in the 600 block of Oxford Sunday reported a man who "was possible intoxicated" had struck multiple vehicles and was trying to leave, police said. Jorge A. Dominguez, 29, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police said Dominguez's vehicle had a punctured radiator, the front tire had been sheared off, a passenger-side door that would no longer open as well as damage to the hood, grille and passenger-side front quarter panel. Police said three other vehicles were struck.
Big tippers: A caller at Belleview Park complained that juveniles "were throwing trash...and tipping over garbage cans" Tuesday. Police made the kids clean up the mess they made.
'Pay to see it' scam: A resident in the 4600 block of Scioto Drive said Tuesday she was scammed by a woman pretending to work for a local Realtor. The caller said she sent the "Realtor" $50 but when she called the realty company she claimed to work for, she was told they had no idea who that was.
Booked: Raelynn Hayes, 18, 3720 State Route 151, Mingo Junction, warrant for felony theft -- Tuesday; Hayleigh Phillips, 24, 2409 County Road 14, Rayland, assault -- Tuesday.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1507 Foster Place, 1111 Hillary Square, 746 Kendall Ave., 4819 White Oaks Drive, 1337 Steel Ave. and 2512 Sunset Blvd., all for high grass.
Cited: Prudence L. Bowman, 71, 1124 Township Road 378, Steubenville, failure to yield Tuesday after a three-car collision on Sunset Boulevard at Stanton; George Westlake, 75, 105 Petrick Ave., Mingo Junction, expired/unlawful plates.

Kid sense: An "emotionally upset" Two Ridge Road woman was "crying, talking loudly and complaining" that her 18-year-old struck her and was "being disrespectful to her in her own home" Sept. 5 and wanted him removed. Deputies said she showed no signs of injury. The son was located sleeping on a friend's sofa and told them he and his mother had argued about "(her) constant consumption of alcohol." He said he'd asked her friends to "stop giving her drinks."
Bully: A woman living on County Road 68, Toronto, called 9-1-1 and the dispatcher reported hearing "screaming" before a male took the phone away from her and hung up Tuesday. Deputies said the male grabbed the victim's pills and fled into the woods before they arrived.
Scene stealer: Callers in Irondale reported a "highly intoxicated" male was "yelling and screaming" at people attending a child's birthday party Sept. 5.
Fraud try: A South Carolina man said his daughter was in the Jefferson County jail and he needed to pay $800 for an ankle monitor so she could be released Sept. 7. He said there was a woman by the same name in the jail but it wasn't his daughter. He was advised to contact his local police.
Bad wake-up: A woman who was "emotionally upset and crying" told deputies she wanted to go to the hospital. She said she was at her boyfriend's in Martins Ferry earlier and "had been going through his phone and deleted another female's contact information" and then fell asleep. She woke up to him "grabbing her by her shirt and choking her," so she left the residence and drove to Smithfield. Deputies said her clothes were torn.
Not even funny: A county resident reported being harassed again by an unknown individual Sept. 6. The resident previously had problems with a caller hiding behind a blocked number, but this time deputies said the individual was using VOIP. The caller said the person told her they were coming to her house to "beat her up" and asked about "her order for $600 worth of (adult toys)" they claimed she'd ordered.
Wood stocked: A Bloomingdale resident said he was cutting grass and came across some wood a neighbor put on his property Sept. 6. He moved the items so he could continue cutting his grass but the neighbor "drove over to his property and started throwing the wood back onto his property." The two of them argued and he said the neighbor eventually "got in her vehicle, revved the engine and drove at him, trying to hit him with her car." He said he ducked behind a tree for cover and video recorded some of the incident and once he told her he called police she fled.
