Irate: A woman who was allegedly chasing her boyfriend in the 900 block of N. Sixth Street with a wooden baseball bat after finding out he'd "had relations" with another female was taken into custody Monday. Police charged Jorden Reilynn Tarutis, 25, 910 N. Sixth St., with domestic violence after the male, who described her as his ex-girlfriend, said they returned to their shared residence and began arguing about the other woman. He said she was "irate" and hit his side. He admitted he "hit her in the shoulder in an attempt to defend himself" before she ran back inside, grabbed the bat "and began following him/coming toward him" with it.
Agitated: A city resident is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a family member, spitting in the faces of two police officers, kicking one of them in the "thigh/groin area" and repeatedly threatening them Saturday. Police said Te'Asia Lawrence, 22, 408 Garfield Ave., was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, retaliation and harassment by an inmate to cause or attempt to cause another person to come in contact with bodily substances. Family members told police Lawrence has a medical issue and had not been taking her prescribed medication. A family member said she was preparing to take Lawrence to the hospital when she "became irate" because she wanted someone else to take her, scratching the would-be driver's face and neck, police reported. Family members did not want to pursue charges.
Charged: Erik Doerr, 50, 384 Westwood Drive, Steubenville, domestic violence (Saturday). Family members allege Doerr had been drinking heavily throughout the night and when a member of the household got up to let the dog out he "began chasing (it) around their yard like a maniac," then followed the family member back into the house and "busted the bedroom door open to get (it)," knocking her over then "grabbing and pushing her head down." At one point, he allegedly pulled that person’s hair and put her in a headlock. Police were told another member of the household tried to intervene and his shirt was ripped.
Mom’s day: Juveniles at a Market Street location wanted a male removed from their home Sunday because they "were tired of his threats and fights with their mother." The mother told police her children could leave because they were causing the problem, so police advised the juveniles to stay away from the man. Not long after, officers were called back to the residence and the adult male advised the juveniles had "forced him out of the apartment when he returned." He did not want to pursue charges but their mother again said she wanted the children to leave. When police explained to her that the children live in the residence and could not be kicked out, she told the officer "to leave since (he) was not doing anything."
Self-serving: A property manager in the LaBelle neighborhood discovered someone broke into an apartment Saturday and stole tools the owner had left inside. The property manager said she noticed a window was missing and when she went inside, found shattered glass. A miter saw, Sawzall, circular saw and a variety of hand tools were stolen, she said.
Wasn’t stolen: A woman called police Saturday about her vehicle possibly being stolen from a lot in the 700 block of Market Street, but while police were talking with her, a bystander advised it had been towed because she parked it on private property.
