Bad idea: An intoxicated male was causing problems in a parking lot on Johnson Road Friday. Police said the male had overindulged and was staggering when they saw him, and he told them "he was forced to go to the ER for detox and wanted to go home." His mother said he needs help and they'd been in the lobby waiting to be seen when "she thought he was leaning in to give her a hug and instead head-butt her," then walked out. She said he never threatened her or harmed her before that and refused to file charges. Her son agreed to go back inside and wait his turn.
Peas in a pod: Callers said a "highly intoxicated woman" in the 700 block of Market Street "was starting arguments with everyone outside Thursday, and then her husband followed her out 'and began threatening everyone as well.'" Police looked at a video someone had shot of the goings-on but said it "was very hard to hear anyone due to everyone screaming at one another." Because she'd had way too much to drink, police told her to go back in her apartment and stay there.
Roll over: An area resident was cited after her car "ended up on its roof" after a one-car accident on Lovers Lane at County Road 43 Saturday. Police said the car had "driven up the side of the hill along County Road 43 and then had rolled off the hill" before overturning. The driver told them she was approaching CR 43 when her brakes failed, so she'd "tried to avoid going head-on into the hillside" and allegedly told them "she had been driving the vehicle even though she knew the brakes were going bad." Police said Danielle Roscoe, 33, 3468 Wilson Ave., Wintersville, was cited for defective equipment and failure to maintain control.
Not worth it: Police spotted a woman in the 100 block of S. 7th Street "attempting to walk away from a (man) as he was screaming at her" Saturday. They said she "yelled for him to leave her alone and he began screaming in her face," and when they asked her if she was OK, she told them she was not and "she wanted to be left alone." Police said he "began screaming again, pointing and getting in her face," but they were able to get between the two of them and push him away. He was told he needed to walk away, which he did.
An hour later, another disturbance involving the same couple was reported in the 200 block of Hollywood Boulevard. This time, police said he was sitting in her vehicle while she was outside, yelling at him. She said he'd been standing outside her apartment all day "and even punched her in the stomach earlier in the evening." She said she offered to take him to his mother's residence but stopped at a store on the way, then the two of them began fighting again and she wanted him out of her car. He told police she'd invited him to go to the store with her but once there "she wanted him out of the vehicle" and was going to leave him there. Police said he had a busted lip but told them it was from an altercation he'd had earlier in the day with her new boyfriend. He grabbed his things from the car and said he'd walk to his mother's home.
Wearing thin: A woman in the 100 block of N. 5th Street asked police for assistance Thursday because "her fiancé would not leave her alone." She said it never got physical but she "just wanted things to calm down." Police said her fiancé showed up "and seemed calm," but she said he was "only acting like that because (they) were present" and showed them a recording of him "screaming, calling her expletives and accusing her of cheating." Police made note of that in their report in case he causes problems down the road, and she went to a family member's home for the evening.
Causing problems: Police were told Thursday a "group of five- to 10 juveniles" have been "constantly causing problems and damaging items" in the 200 block of Hollywood Boulevard. The caller decided it was time to report it because "it's becoming a consistent problem."
At risk: A Rosswell Avenue resident said Friday she rented a car so her cousin could use it, but she was ready to return it and her cousin wouldn't bring it back. The cousin said she needed the car for work "and wanted her money back that she gave" the caller to rent it. Police told her the court would have to decide how to handle the money issue, but the caller had every right to take the vehicle back since she rented it. Police also pointed out that her license was suspended and she "needed to get that matter resolved" before getting behind the wheel again.
Big ears: A caller complained about loud music in the 100 block of Lovers Lane Thursday. Police located college-aged individuals "talking and listening to music" and had them turn the volume down to the point where they "could very faintly hear it from the property line."
A Lawson Avenue resident said someone made 17 fraudulent charges on her debit card at Shein.com, all but one of them occurring in January. The 17th theft happened in April.
Pilfered: Copper wire, fan coils and blades, tools, two coolers and other items were reported stolen Saturday from a N. 7th Street building.
Drugs: A woman overdosed on heroin Friday on N. 7th Street. Police said someone gave her Narcan before they arrived, and EMS took her to the hospital. Police seized the suspected heroin and paraphernalia, both of which will be destroyed.
Charged: Ashley B. Johnson, 37, 3625 Wood St., Weirton, trespassing on railroad property (Friday).
Held without bond: Mollie A. Shanabarger, 28, 3625 Wood St., Weirton, failure to appear for Wintersville County Court (Friday).
Served: Jeffrey Scott, 35, 207 6th St., Toronto, failure to appear (Toronto County Court) Saturday.
Cited: Andrew J. McCauley Jr., 25, 611 Ross St., Steubenville, speeding (school zone); a 2005 Chevy Cobalt, a 2010 Chevy Impala and a 2007 GMC Terrain parked in the 200 block of S. 8th Street were towed.
