Overcharged: A woman who purchased a $25 box of shrimp from a vendor said when she checked her bank statement Thursday it rang up as $260. She said she contacted the seller, who processed a refund but was concerned because it didn't show up in her account right away. Police told her she'd need to follow up with her bank and it's a civil issue.
Conspicuous return: Police were asked to stand by as JMHA escorted a woman who had been banned from the JFK building off the property but she "refused to open the door" Thursday and warned her a warrant would be issued for her arrest. Not long after they were notified she was trying to get back in the building and arrived in time to see her allegedly "shoulder-checking" a JMHA officer as he exited the building, "almost knocking him over" as she tried to get into the lobby and "digging her nails" into a patrolman's hand as he tried to take her into custody. Police said Autumn Ayers, 36, 137 Logan Court, New Cumberland, ended up being held overnight without bond on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, assaulting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
No dice: A city resident was upset Friday when she couldn't book a room for herself and a male friend at the Wingate without a valid ID. They said she becajse "agitated and threatened the employee," until she was advised police were on the way and left.
False alarm: A caller told police a man on the Maryland Avenue water tower Thursday "was possibly going to jump." The man told them he worked for T-Mobile and was repairing a phone line, which they confirmed with the water superintendent.
Egg toss: A woman walking in the 1200 block of Sinclair Avenue reported being pelted by an egg Thursday. Juveniles believed responsible disappeared down the street.
Unhappy guy: A city resident said a male who contacted her on social media referenced a physical confrontation she'd had with his sister and "then threatened her and made vulgar comments." She was advised to block him.
No proof: A juvenile told police he found a bike he believed belonged to him at a residence in the 400 block of S. 5th Street Thursday. He said the bike had been stolen a week ago but he never filed a report. The homeowner claimed she purchased the bike for one of her kids. Neither of them could prove ownership.
