JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF
Car torched: Two men are facing multiple charges after they allegedly were spotted carrying tools from a garage and tossing them out the window of a black Chevy Tahoe as they fled authorities Saturday on State Route 152 near Richmond. Sheriff's deputies said the pair ended up in Carroll County, where they allegedly drove the vehicle over an embankment and then torched it. David R. Ash, 52, 13871 State Route 213, Irondale, and Ryan Guidos, 34, 13886 State Route 213, Irondale, are lodged in the Jefferson County jail pending charges, deputies said. The owner's son reportedly caught the pair on the property with items that belonged inside. After he contacted law enforcement, they fled, and Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. followed them as they allegedly dumped tools out the Tahoe's window. Guidos told deputies he was unaware they were in the garage without the owner's permission, claiming Ash told him he had a notarized paper from the owner authorizing him to be on the premises. He also claimed Ash was driving and allegedly set the dashboard on fire, then allowed the Tahoe to "roll over a hillside and into a ravine," deputies said.
Didn't like his look: A Mingo Junction resident told dispatchers she saw a man "with a wrap on his head" who she didn't believe belonged in the area and wanted someone to "pick him up and remove him from the area" Aug. 14. The caller told 911 operators the man "wasn't doing anything wrong" but he "didn't belong in the area."
She said, he said: A woman reported arguing with her male companion and said he "threw a bag of food (at her) and threatened to shoot her in the head" Aug. 16 on Aster Road near Wintersville. When deputies caught up with him, the man claimed she had hit him and deputies observed some facial injuries. He said he didn't want to pursue charges. Deputies said that due to "the circumstances and his apparent high level of intoxication," he was told to leave the property for the remainder of the night. They said he became argumentative but ultimately decided it was in his best interest to leave with a family member.
Buffed: A Toronto-area resident said her ex-boyfriend was at her home, "screaming at everyone" Aug. 15. She said he had done nothing but lie in bed for about five weeks and she wasn't sure what was wrong with him or if he was using drugs, but he was "yelling at her and her children." He said he was upset because her children would wander into the bedroom while he was "lying naked in bed...and (he) isn't okay with that." He said he hasn't been working and was trying to steer clear of everyone else in the house. When deputies told the caller they couldn't force him to leave because he had been there five years, they said she "became irate." They suggested the two go to separate rooms for the rest of the night. When the man asked her to move to a different room, they said she told him she was "not doing that." Deputies warned both of them that if they had to return to the residence there likely would be "a different outcome."
Wailing: A caller reported hearing a woman "screaming again and again" Sunday at a residence on Two Ridge Road, Steubenville. Once there, the woman told deputies she was upset because she saw her male companion "speaking to three other women." She said it never became physical, but when he said he was going to leave "she started screaming and crying." He said they had been out drinking and he saw her talking to three other women. He said there had been a lot of arguing and door slamming but no physical violence.
Charged: A Bloomingdale woman told deputies she had video allegedly showing her ex "breaking into her home and trashing it" Saturday. Deputies said items were scattered and broken throughout the residence, including her TV. Her cameras were yanked down, the bathroom cabinet was ripped from the wall, the basement door was ripped from its hinges, her air conditioner was yanked from the window and water was left running in her bathtub. She said he wasn't supposed to have a key, but at one point he had changed the locks for her so it was possible. He claimed she gave him the key. Deputies said Dustin L. Fletcher, 31, of Cadiz, is facing charges of breaking and entering, criminal damaging and criminal trespass.

Bad move: A woman is facing additional charges after police say she used her handcuffs to scratch the railing in the Steubenville Municipal Courtroom as she was being escorted out following her preliminary hearing Friday. Filling up: A scrapyard owner said an employee who lives on the property returned home to find someone trying to steal his things Thursday. He said the employee arrived in time to see a man running from his camper with some of his belongings in his hands "and was attempting to steal it." The would-be thief loaded some of the items into a cooler but hadn't gotten away with them. The scrapyard owner said he checked his cameras and spotted the suspect "stealing scrap metal and loading it into a bucket." Police forwarded the information to the prosecutor for review.

Shacked up: A man was taken into custody Friday after the owner of a Lawson Avenue property told police he had seen someone going into what should have been a vacant residence. When they checked the residence it was empty, but after they left, the property owner called them back because he had seen the man "inside the house, grabbing items." Victor Baker, 21, no fixed address, was charged with trespassing, police said.
Inner voice: A man who callers said was sitting at the bus stop in the 2500 block of Sunset Boulevard "yelling at passing cars" told police he was "hearing voices" and wanted to go to the hospital Monday. Deputies offered to call an ambulance, but he said he wanted to walk. Once at the hospital, staff reported he became argumentative and threatened staff. He failed to tell doctors he was hearing voices, so he was medically released. Due to his threats, hospital staff didn't want him to return, so deputies transported him to another hospital in the region.
Backsliding: A caller reported seeing a man "laying in the grass, appearing to be nodding off" Friday. Police said the man told them he was "okay and was trying to sleep," but officers said he was fidgeting "in an unusual manner, as if he was under the influence of (drugs)." They said they knew him to be a drug user and his pupils were extremely dilated, but he didn't have any contraband and denied using drugs. While waiting for an ambulance, he admitted that "since getting out of rehab he had used drugs every day" but continued to deny using any that day. After Steubenville firefighters didn't find a reason to take him to the hospital, police told him he would have to find somewhere else to sleep.

Police told him there was nothing they could do about the vehicle, which the caller "did not appear to like." The other man denied threatening anyone.
