STEUBENVILLE POLICE
Walk about: A caller in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue reported seeing a young child walking in the area without supervision Sunday. The caller subsequently located the child’s mother, who said she’d left the child at home with her husband while she sought medical attention, but the child was able to open the front door and wander off the front porch. Police said the juvenile was in good health and showed no signs of neglect.
Not wanted: Employees at Mr. Fuel told police a man who had previously been banned from the property because he allegedly pulled a knife on a clerk during an argument returned Sunday. He told police he wasn’t aware he’d been banned, so officers stood by while the manager advised him he was no longer welcome on the property. Police told him he will face charges if he returns.
Theft: A man said his cell phone, vape, phone charger and a pink bag containing miscellaneous items were stolen overnight Sunday. He gave police the names of two people who might have been involved, then requested an ambulance, complaining of head pain from a fall inside a business.
Car entered: A resident in the 2400 block of Alexander Manor West told police someone entered her vehicle overnight Sunday. Nothing was missing.
Needs attention: A caller reported seeing a juvenile playing in the roadway without supervision in the 400 block of Lincoln Boulevard Sunday. Police said they had to “announce ourselves and knock on the front door multiple times” before a woman answered. She said the child’s father had dropped the youngster off in the early morning hours for her teenage daughter to babysit. Police told her she needed to make sure the juveniles in her house were properly supervised.
Pilfered: A man in the 400 block of S. Fifth Street said some of his belongings had disappeared from the residence since he moved in two months ago. He said he discovered his wallet, cell phone, birth certificate, Social Security card and Direct Express cards had been stolen and alleged a female who also lives there admitted taking the items. He told police he wanted to pursue charges, so the report was forwarded to the prosecutor.
Threats: An employee at a business in Hollywood Plaza said a man came into the store Saturday threatening to “beat her (expletive)” over text messages sent to his sister.
Couldn’t stay away: A woman returned Sunday to a property in the 3200 block of Sunset Boulevard after being evicted and warned she could face charges if she returned. Police said Jennifer L. Strovilas, 49, no current address, was charged with criminal trespass and served with a warrant for an unrelated Municipal Court charge of failure to appear.
Cited: Austin Harbin, 28, 1209 Cunningham St., Follansbee, red light violation.

Had enough: A Steubenville-area resident told deputies Saturday she needed a female removed from her house “before she hurts her.” She said the woman had been evicted from a home in the 3200 block of Sunset Boulevard, so she brought her to stay at her house, “but now she’s acting psychotic and needs to go.” The woman was trespassed from the caller’s property and advised not to return. She then requested a ride back to the Sunset Boulevard residence where she had formerly lived.
Financial fraud: A Richmond resident told deputies someone transferred nearly $90,000 from his business account over the past week. He said a $49,000 wire transfer was processed July 29 and a second transfer of $39,000 was completed the following day. He said his banker advised him it appeared to have been initiated by a restoration company.
No supervision: A caller reported juveniles riding dirt bikes and ATVs up and down Coal Hill Road without helmets or adult supervision Saturday. Deputies located the juveniles and told them their vehicles would be towed if they rode on the streets again. Deputies went to their home to speak with their mother, but no one answered.
Fed up: A Smithfield woman said Saturday that whenever her aunt, who lives down the street, comes outside, she antagonizes her by yelling, cursing and calling her names. She said it has been an ongoing issue and that she is tired of “the overwhelming amount of verbal harassment” directed toward her. Deputies advised her to consider seeking a protection order.
Causing problems: A Tiltonsville caller reported a man in a red pickup had been “laying on the horn for five minutes,” then got out with a crowbar and started a fight with another man. He was advised to leave the area.
Dog days: A man who had been at basic training when he and his girlfriend broke up reported July 28 that he returned home to Adena to learn she had given his dog away. His ex-girlfriend and her mother said the dog had been chasing a neighbor’s horses and they had been told to rehome it. She said she paid for the dog, but he said it had been a gift and he had to leave it behind while completing training. They were advised ownership would have to be decided in court.
Fireworks: A Dillonvale caller complained July 29 that a neighbor was setting off fireworks “near her property and propane tanks.” She said she asked him to stop and he yelled at her. The neighbor said he had been shooting Roman candles toward the roadway with his children when the woman “started yelling at them through a window,” so he told her to leave them alone and stay inside. He was advised not to shoot fireworks toward the roadway and to avoid the neighbor.
Relationship issues: A motorist traveling on state Route 213 in Irondale said she and her significant other were arguing July 29, so she pulled over and tried to get out of the vehicle. She said he reached for her, screamed at her, wrapped his arms around her and picked her up to carry her back to the truck, not letting go until she started screaming. He said they were headed to a friend’s house when they started arguing “over dumb stuff.” She said she was not interested in pursuing charges, although it was not the first time they had experienced problems. Deputies advised them to rethink their relationship.
Wishful thinking: A Costonia resident complained Saturday about a “constant flow” of side-by-sides on County Road 56. She said she believed if a cruiser were stationed there, it would stop the problem, but deputies told her they could not commit to that.
Missing: A beekeeper on state Route 151 reported July 31 that someone had stolen a hive.
