Cleaned out: The owner of a Weirton cleaning service said Thursday a former employee is refusing to return a customer's key and had threatened to "beat her (expletive)" and also that of a woman who was with her. She said there was an incident at a client's business where the ex-employee allegedly damaged property and the owner of the business wanted the key back that day or charges would be filed. The former employee told police she wasn't returning the key until she was paid, and when they pointed out it belongs to a business owner who was threatening legal action she said she "didn't care." She also admitted threatening to assault the two woman, claiming they'd "been following her around all day." Police advised the owner of the cleaning business that she and the key owner should file reports in Weirton.

Domestic issues: A caller reported being assaulted by her boyfriend at a city address Tuesday. Police were told the woman was on her way back to the location to speak with them, but as they arrived they saw a vehicle speeding away and determined it was the boyfriend's car. A friend of the caller's said the woman and boyfriend were at the home of her relatives in New Cumberland. Police advised the caller to request local police do a welfare check "for the sake of the alleged victim."

Skedaddled: A caller complained that someone was "drinking beer" in public in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue and another person behind a building was "engaged in drug activity" Thursday. Police said they didn't see anyone drinking alcohol in the open, nor did they see the person behind the building using drugs, but police suggested the individual leave the area anyway.

Attention getter: A mother said she loves her daughter but pepper sprayed her anyway after she showed up at her door, kicking it, screaming and yelling Thursday. She said her daughter seemed to be having a mental health episode and feared she'd kick it in. The daughter told police she'd had "an episode" and asked to be taken to the hospital for it as well as the pepper spray she'd inhaled.

Code issue: Notices of violation were sent to the owner/occupants of a property at 403 Belleview Blvd., high grass; 515 Lawson Ave., high grass and pile of litter and construction material in alley behind residence.

Code violations: A Dodge Dakota with an expired New Jersey plate that was parked in the 100 block of McDowell Avenue, a mini Clubman with expired plates parked in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, and a a silver Impala with expired plates parked in the 1400 block of Ridge Avenue, all were ticketed and towed.
