STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Desperate: A tow truck driver told police he was in the process of repossessing a Chevy Silverado when a man jumped in the driver’s-side door and started it, then tried to drive it off the tow truck’s lift. He said the tow truck, the pickup and a Honda Odyssey minivan parked next to it were all damaged and reported that after abandoning his mission, the man fled on foot toward Fifth Street. Police located Dunyasha Yetts, 55, Saint Andrews Drive, Steubenville, in front of a downtown business and booked him into the county jail without bond pending felony charges.

Animals surrendered: A landlord said a female tenant had moved out of a residence in the 1000 block of Main Street Monday but neglected to take her animals with her. The landlord had given police permission to enter the residence to check on the animals and, after police found them locked in the basement, he surrendered them on her behalf. Police said charges will be filed against the woman.

Traffic stop yields two arrests, citation: A driver was cited and his two passengers taken into custody after a traffic stop at Wellesley and Carnegie streets Monday. The driver, Anthony Chiodi Sr., 72, 200 Pross St., Weirton, was cited for failing to signal a left turn onto Wellesley. His son, Anthony, 39, and his son’s girlfriend, Cassandra McDonnell, 35, both of 975 Byron St., Weirton, were booked into the county jail without bond on outstanding warrants for failing to appear for hearings on misdemeanor theft charges (Municipal Court).

Lucky kid: A motorist said she was driving on Harding and Lincoln avenues Monday when a juvenile on a pedal bike darted off Lincoln and hit the back of her car. She said her car wasn’t damaged and the juvenile “stood up and went home.” Police located the child’s mother, who said her son was fine but agreed to let Steubenville EMS check him out.

Hanging on: An Arlington Avenue resident said Monday his ex has been harassing him. He said the woman has been coming to his house and knocking on the windows, upsetting his family. He said he’s trying to “move on and stay away from her” but she won’t stop. Police told him what he would have to do to obtain a protection order.

Card stolen: A Williams Street resident said he realized his wallet was missing when he was notified his credit card was being used at a Maryland Avenue business Monday. Employees were able to tell police who had the stolen card.

Pointed message: A woman in the 1000 block of Adams Street told police her rear tires had been slashed Monday. She said she knew the woman who was responsible but wasn’t interested in pursuing charges at the moment.

Party of one: A Pittsburgh Street resident told police a man was pounding on his front door Monday. After telling police who was causing the problem, he told them the man is not supposed to be on his property. Police had to return later in their shift because the man had been back multiple times and “appeared to be behaving in an unusual manner and has attempted to get in (his) house,” and at least once had brought friends with him. He said he just wants the man to “leave him alone,” and police told him he could seek a protection order.
