Harasser: An Arlington Avenue man reported a man on his street was harassing children Friday. The caller said the man "was highly intoxicated" and the kids reported he almost struck one of them. The caller said he heard the man telling the kids "not to come back down there" and one of the kids cried, so he confronted the man, who he said "began threatening (him), stating that he would hit him with his Razor and insulting him." Police spoke with the other man, reporting he was indeed "highly intoxicated" and advised he didn't know what they were talking about and "didn't do anything," but later admitted he "did have a problem with the juveniles" but still denied there'd been a problem. Police advised him he needed to stay away from his neighbor's property and if he's seen driving the Razor in the street, they'd tow it.
No freebies: Police were told a woman had been causing problems in the drive-through lane at a fast food restaurant Friday. The manager said the woman claimed to be picking up a mobile order from her app, but there was no order, so the woman ordered again but didn't pay. The manager said the woman stayed in the drive-through lane for about 20 minutes before leaving, and the order was canceled due to nonpayment. The woman returned again and was refused service, but she claimed she'd reordered online and insisted it had been paid for. The manager said "there was no order for her and again no payment" and that it's a recurring issue with her, and the order the woman was holding wasn't hers and she had no idea why she was touching it. When police tried to explain to her that because she wasn't paying for her orders they weren't going to service her, she "ranted about 'white privilege' before stomping out of the business in a slurry of profanity." Police told her she was banned from the property and would be arrested if she returned.
Squatting: A man was spotted by police Thursday walking into a vacant property, and when dispatchers checked with the owner, she confirmed no one should be in the building. Police said they found the male "hiding in a crawl space in the basement." Brian Digman, 40, no fixed address, was booked for criminal trespass, police said.
Charges filed: A man who was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant is facing additional charges after police found contraband in his backpack. Police said Anthony Smith, 34, no fixed address, was booked into the county on charges of possession of a Schedule II drug, a substance believed to be methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, in addition to the theft charge (Municipal Court).
Problem solved: Someone reported a disturbance involving a gun in the 300 block of Maxwell Avenue, but once there several individuals told police no one had a gun and they never felt threatened. A female said she and her husband were arguing due to "several things going on in their lives," but it never got physical. She said it all started "due to them both being angry at the neighbor for what she said to their son." The couple agreed to separate for the night to calm the situation.
Keeping score: Two intoxicated females in the 2500 block of Sunset Boulevard were arguing Friday "over the other's alcohol consumption and not respecting each other," police said. One of them lived several hours away and decided to spend the night in a hotel, so police drove her there.
Alcohol issue: A woman in the 1000 block of Waldon Avenue Friday said her male companion "was highly intoxicated and threatening her." She said he shoved her and hit her car, denting it. Police tried to talk with him, but he "barricaded all the doors in the house." She eventually decided she didn't want to pursue charges but wanted back into the house. An officer eventually persuaded him to open the door so she could gather her belongings and leave.
Charged: Melissa McCulley, 44, Salineville, theft. Employees at Walmart claimed McCulley failed to scan several items Friday and put several others in her purse, police said. The merchandise was valued at just over $252, they said.
Chirpy kids: A woman arguing with her boyfriend Friday in the 300 block of S. 4th Street said juveniles across the street began yelling at them, and when her boyfriend walked over to find out why, "the juveniles said they were going to get their families." She said she and her boyfriend perceived that as a threat.
Lock it up: A Grandview Avenue resident reported two wallets were stolen from her vehicle Friday, which she had parked in the alley and thinks she left unlocked. She told police identification cards, Social Security cards, insurance cards and credit cards were stolen.
Entered: A Broadway Boulevard resident said someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet, but the only thing in it was a California driver's license Friday.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owner/occupants of a property at 2807 Whitelawn Blvd. for high grass, litter and household discards in rear of property.
Towed: A boat and burned-out trailer that had been parked on city property in the 1200 block of Sinclair Avenue were towed Thursday; two vehicles with expired plates parked on the street in the 1400 block of Oak Grove Avenue were towed Thursday.
Cited: Alexander Hamilton, no age listed, 1203 Wellesley Ave., Steubenville, operation -- disregard for safety Friday. Hamilton allegedly was seen in a vehicle with one functioning headlight, darting in and out of lanes without signaling and traveling at an excessive speed; Bonnie S. Higginbotham, 77, 707 Market St., Apt. 609, Steubenville, driving under suspension; Shayne Metz, 31, Triadelphia, expired plates.
