Role model: A mother was taken into custody after she allegedly was in an altercation with another mother in the mall parking lot Monday after their children had argued earlier. Police charged McKaya Jade Beaver, 23, 1419 Madison Ave., Toronto, with assault. Beaver allegedly told police she got out of her car to confront the other mother, calling it "an 'on-sight' type thing" and said she hit the other mother first, sparking the altercation. Police said both women had the kind of "physical markings" you'd expect from a fight, but the other mother was "visibly distressed (and) crying" and wanted to pursue charges. She said she doesn't even know Beaver, police said.

Milk bath: A woman told police she'd "been attacked by a dog while engaged in an altercation" with a male companion Monday in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Police said the two of them were covered in milk "as both had apparently been covered in 'pepper spray' during the altercation." The female claims that during the argument she'd been struck in the head with a "ladder," but police said she wasn't bleeding and had no contusions and told them her boyfriend had "sicked" the dog on her and it bit her on the ankle, but there were no teeth marks on her skin. She said she didn't want to pursue charges but wanted her phone back. Police didn't find the boyfriend, but they were able to recover her phone.

Permission slipped: Police caught two men with backpacks leaving the old cosmetology building Monday and said they claimed to have permission from the property owner to be there, though "they did not know (his) name." They denied taking anything from the property and opened the backpacks without being asked, police said, adding they didn't find anything in them that had been removed from the property. They were told not to go back inside the building.

Jumped: A man told police he withdrew $180 from an ATM in the 200 block of Court Alley Tuesday, only to have three men "knock him to the ground, assault him and steal the money and his phone."

Head banger: A woman in the 700 block of Oakmont Avenue was ordered Monday to appear in court for playing her radio so loudly the speakers "were vibrating houses in the nearby area." Police said as they pulled up they heard the music from about 75 yards away from her home and advised her to turn it down "as the neighbors were complaining about the excessive noise." Police said she complied "for about 30 seconds," then as they turned to leave, jacked the volume up again. Adarra D. Atkins, 27, of 710 Oakmont, was cited for the noise violation.

Car entered: Someone entered a vehicle that had been parked in the 900 block of Broadway Boulevard overnight Sunday. A female said $9 was removed from her wallet, along with her debit and credit cards. She said her boyfriend's Louis Vuitton wallet, valued at $250-$500, was taken, along with his debit and credit cards.

Cited: A city resident was charged after he was spotted inside Kroger despite being banned for life. Police said Ryan Gooch, 35, 180 N. 4th St., Apt. 614, Steubenville, admitted he'd been inside the store "but not doing anything illegal." He also advised he was aware of the ban, they said. Gooch was given a summons to appear in Municipal Court.

Joy-ride: A juvenile was arrested Monday after she was caught at the wheel of a vehicle that had been reported stolen by her sister in Pennsylvania. Police said two small plastic bags containing a substance believed to be cocaine were found.

House hit: Richard W. Johnson, 44, 418 Spring Ave., Steubenville, was cited for failure to control Monday after his pickup struck a house in his block. Police said he was northbound on Spring Avenue when he realized the brakes weren't working properly. He said he tried to coast back into his driveway but missed, ending up over the hillside against a neighbor's residence. The homeowner said she "heard a loud crash" and, when she looked outside, discovered the truck had hit her house.

Booked Monday: Bryan Handy, 50, 633 Lawson Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear.

Cited: Sean Dwayne Loveless, 40, 2504 Crabbe Blvd., Apt. B, Steubenville, hit-skip. Police said Loveless was at the wheel of a vehicle with heavy front-end damage and told them he hit a pole "somewhere north of N. 7th and North Street" and was unaware he had to stay and report a mishap like that. The pole was located in the 800 block of N. 7th.
