Good relations: A city resident told police his ex-brother-in-law called Wednesday to tell him he was coming to his home to “shoot him.” He told police he only knew his first name and that he lived several hours away.
Phone fight: A caller reported a woman at the Fort Steuben Apartments Wednesday was “attempting to steal cell phones” and refused to leave. She claimed she was only asking to borrow someone’s phone so she could call for a ride. Building security told her she needed to leave the property.
Throwing stones: Police were asked to check on juveniles throwing rocks at a building in the 2500 block of Cherry Avenue Tuesday. They checked the area but there were no juveniles around, nor did they see any damage to the exterior of the building.
Breaking bad: A Belleview Boulevard man and his estranged girlfriend were causing a disturbance Tuesday. He said he was trying to gather his things to leave and they started arguing, but it never became physical. His ex said the argument started because he was trying to take items that belonged to her. Police told the pair they weren’t there to dictate who gets what and the two of them would have to figure it out themselves. He ended up grabbing a few things and calling a family member for a ride.
Overstayed: A woman in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue wanted a male removed from her home Wednesday. She said he had come over to watch their children for a few hours “but is now refusing to leave.” He said he just wanted a few of his things and he would go, so she gathered them for him.
Multiple charges: A Weirton couple is facing charges after police recognized them in the Kroger parking lot Wednesday as allegedly having been “involved in multiple thefts” from the store. Police said Anthony C. Chiodi, 38, and Cassandra E. McDonnell, 35, both of 975 Byron St., were each charged with two counts of petit theft after they found “numerous pieces of unbagged merchandise” in the back seat, where McDonnell was sitting. Both were passengers in a vehicle being operated by a relative of Chiodi, who was not charged. Police said the two took responsibility for the items they found.
Knock off: A woman complained of ankle pain Thursday after a hit-and-run driver knocked her off her electric bike in the 800 block of Oakmont Avenue. Police said she was taken to the hospital by a family member. A pedestrian who witnessed the mishap said he saw the black sedan overtaking her and tried to warn her.
Charged: Employees at Kroger told police they watched a man bagging items he hadn’t paid for Tuesday and said he was already eating a $7 item when they stopped him at the door. Police said Robert A. Brown, 30, of 1420 Arlington Ave., Steubenville, was charged with misdemeanor theft.
Booked: Kevin Robinson, 30, 1504½ Euclid Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear/probation violation.
