Con job: A Sinclair Avenue resident told police Sunday she’d let a male she “doesn’t know much about” stay with her for a few days and allowed him to take her car to an interview at a business on S. 4th Street, but he never brought it back. She said she found out something was wrong when a friend called her “wondering why she was driving down Adams Street” when he was supposed to be at the job interview, so she called the store to ask if he’d interviewed with them and was advised he had not. She said she has no idea where her vehicle is and has no idea where he’d take it.

Chatty Cathy: A man in the 400 block of S. 4th Street said Sunday his female companion booted him from their home but he needs his “important medication” before he leaves. Police said they tried to speak with the woman but “answered the door with an immediate aggressive attitude” and refused to cooperate with them. They said she “continuously slammed and locked the door,” then “would reopen the door and begin screaming” at them again. The male finally decided he would go to a family member’s home for the night.

Fired up: A woman advised police she heard what sounded like three gunshots Monday in the Murphy Park area and then saw a vehicle speeding off. Police searched the area but didn’t find any evidence of shots having been fired or suspects.

Squatting: The manager of a Market Street property told police Monday someone was living in an apartment that was supposed to be vacant. He said the previous tenant had moved out and the man who was staying there was never on a lease. Police found the man in the apartment and stood by while he gathered his belongings and left.

Persistence: Employees at a Sunset Boulevard business wanted a male removed from the property Monday. The man told police “he was asking people for money for food” and left the area, but he had three more interactions with police in a matter of hours, with reports he was laying on the sidewalk in front of a property in the 100 block of N. 4th Street and was told to move. Minutes later they were told he was reported unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of Fort Steuben Apartments, but when they checked police said he was only sleeping. This time when he was told to move along, he ended up in the lobby of the building and was told to leave the property for the rest of the night.

Family feuding: A city resident said she bumped into her sister at a downtown business and when she left, her sister and a male who was with her “followed her down” the street directing a derogatory phrase at her.

Hungry man: Employees at Kroger told police a male who’d left the store Sunday with “a large amount of meat products” fled in a black Honda Fit.

Vandalized: The owner of a downtown property reports someone damaged orange construction fencing they were using Monday, tearing it off in several places and also breaking several posts.

Nature lover: A Euclid Avenue resident told police someone removed 11 red roses from a bush next to her driveway Monday.

Booked: Rikki Sanders, no age listed, 51260 National Road, St. Clairsville, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sanders was taken into custody Monday after the vehicle she was riding in was pulled over in the vicinity of Franciscan Way. Police alleged they watched Sanders drop a packet containing a substance believed to be heroin-based to the ground as police were preparing to search her. They also reported finding a crack pipe tucked in a cushion where she’d been seated. Another passenger, Gary Kaldor, no age listed, also at 51260 National Road, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cited: Two pet owners were cited Monday after their dogs were running loose on Spring Avenue and Cardinal Street. Police said Ronald L. Evans, 32, 450 Spring Ave., was cited for having a dog-at-large for the third time and, because they’d had to deal with it being on the loose “numerous times,” would be deemed a nuisance. Also cited was Zachary Little, 33, 450 Spring Ave., dog-at-large.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 800 N. Court St., 317 Virginia Ave., 319 Virginia Ave., 320 Virginia Ave. and 326 Virginia Ave., all for high grass; and 110 Opal Blvd., wood scraps, litter and other household items in driveway and front yard.

Cited: Christopher M. Watta, 27, Chesterfield, Mich., speeding; the owner of a purple Harley parked on a sidewalk at 1344 Oak Grove Ave., parking in a restricted area.
