Car vs empty bus: Three people were taken to the hospital after a passenger car collided with a school bus Monday morning at the intersection of Logan Avenue and N. 5th Street.
Fire Chief Joe Ribar said there were no schoolchildren on the bus. Two of the injured appeared to have minor injuries but the third sustained “significant injuries.”

A woman who’d stopped at an ATM said as she opened her car door a man “approached her vehicle quickly…holding a small butane torch,” Sunday. She said, “she felt as if he were threatening her with it… (and…) feared for her life.” She said he “mumbled something” but she didn’t understand what he was saying, so she jumped back into her car and sped off. Police located the man she’d described and said they observed him and noticed “he appeared to be wandering aimlessly.” He was advised to “clear the area and make it to his destination.”
An Oregon Avenue resident said her ex had kicked her back door while she was at the store, Saturday. She said her sister was there “and saw (him) trying to get in” and tried to push him out of the residence” and he eventually left. He is the father of her children, and she didn’t want to pursue charges.
A Pittsburgh Street resident said the people living at a nearby house are “constantly harassing her and taking pictures of her daughter’s window,” Saturday. She said the window has a curtain on it and they can’t see inside but then “get drunk and sometimes pee on the side of their house and she’s afraid her daughter will see them.” They spoke with a woman in the other house, who advised “they will stay away from (her) and that she already has had problems” with the caller.
A woman she was walking along Lincoln Avenue when a pit bull came after her, Saturday. Police said she had a “mark/cut pattern on (her) leg consistent with bite marks. The dog’s owner, John Kopras, 61, 631 Lincoln Ave., was cited for dog-at-large.
