Anxious to leave: A man with an outstanding warrant fled Trinity Medical Center while he was still attached to a heart monitor, Monday. Police searched the area for him with no luck, until hospital security personnel advised he “was seen getting on a SVRTA bus” near the hospital. SVRTA personnel spoke with their drivers and said, “no one reported picking anyone up at that intersection.” He was later located in the 400 block of Market Street and taken into custody, but when officers returned him to the hospital to have his heart monitor removed the man he complained of chest pains, so they took him to the ER for treatment.
Misplaced trust: A Toronto resident who let a female drop him off at work and take his car told police she never picked him up and she “isn’t responding to texts or phone calls,” Tuesday. Police had already located the car, a white Impala, parked on Railroad Avenue “with some of its windows shattered, taillights broken and all the seats cut open” and, based on the debris in the roadway, said it “appeared to have been damaged after it was parked.” The owner told police he “didn’t know why the vehicle was damaged and (left)” on the city street and said he wanted to file charges against the woman for damaging it but “he only had limited information about her.” Police told him he needed to have it moved out of the roadway before Thursday, so he called for a tow truck to remove it.
Unraveling: A city resident said an individual barred by a court order from contacting him has now transferred his animus to his mother and siblings, Monday. He said the individual has been contacting his family directly “and threatening them.”
On the loose: Someone reported seeing a “small, unattended juvenile walking in the area” in the 700 block of Oakmont Avenue, Monday. When police arrived the child’s mother had already located him and said she’d “(gone) upstairs to change her clothes for work and … heard her dog barking” and when she went downstairs discovered her front door was open and her child was “walking in the area.” Police told mom to get child locks and suggested other safety measures she should look into.
Hanging on: A Pennsylvania Avenue woman said her boyfriend was refusing to leave her home, Monday. When police arrived she told them he’d agreed it was time to go so their help was no longer needed.
Egged on: A South Bend Boulevard resident told police someone egged her home, Tuesday. She said her security cameras captured footage of two males approaching her home, with one of them “walking onto her front porch and throwing the eggs at her residence.” Police said the pair then fled on foot heading north on South Bend toward Ridge Avenue.
Eyesore: Someone complained that a “wrecked/junked vehicle” with expired plates was parked in the 600 block of Grandview Avenue, Monday. Police said the vehicle “appeared not to have been moved since it was towed there,” so a ticket was issued and the vehicle towed away.
Kicked it: The owner of a Spring Avenue property told police someone kicked in the front door and stole two 55-inch televisions, Monday.
Call him ‘ex’: A Lincoln Avenue resident who had been arguing with her boyfriend said when she left her apartment to go to work he “chased after her and kicked the passenger window” of her vehicle, Monday. She said she didn’t call right away because she was “going to have him pay to have it repaired” but he had since decided “he is not willing to do so.” She told police she wants him charged with criminal mischief.
Potty mouth: A woman “unsatisfied with her treatment” at a city business was “causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the property,” Monday. Police were told that after she left, “(she) began to yell obscenities at staff.” She’d been trying to call a cab so police ended up giving her a ride downtown.
Threats: A city resident reported receiving a scam call, Tuesday. She said the caller knew her address and at one point threatened to burglarize her (home) when she refused to pay the scammer.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 730 Oakmont Avenue, ripped open bag of garbage on back porth and back yard covered in scattered ordinary household garbage; 707 Rosswell Ave., garbage bags piled behind detached garage; 1130 Oak Grove Ave., garbage bags, tires, mattresses and other items on front porch and piled on side of residence.

Jenkins, 18, 2458 Alexander Manor E., Steubenville, failure to yield left turn, Tuesday. A vehicle with expired plates parked in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue was ticketed and towed.
Jefferson County Sheriff
Bizarre behavior: An employee at a Tiltonsville gas station said a man walked into the store and approached “old men sitting at a table having coffee and slammed a chair, then slammed his hands on the table,” Sunday. The employee said he then “took out a knife and asked the (men) if they were ever taught how to use one,” then “slammed the knife on the table and then his hands again” before turning around and walking out. No one wanted him charged but they do not want him back at the business, deputies said.
Alcohol fueled: A Mingo Junction man said his “wife was drunk (and) causing an issue,” Sunday. He told deputies she’d lost her job and wanted someone to pick her up and upon returning, she and another female living there made an alcohol run but “didn’t park correctly” when they returned and he told her to correct it. He said she took care of it and returned to the residence and they started drinking but at one point he said she “became outraged and he told (her) if she didn’t want him, he would pack his things … and leave in the morning (after) he sobers up.” He said the female walked away and when she returned, said she’d called 9-1-1 and “threw the phone at him.” She’d said he tried to strangle her, which he denied. He said he didn’t touch her neck because “he does not have feeling in his hands so he would never do that.” Neither of them wanted to pursue charges, so deputies suggested they separate for the night. The female initially said she’d booked him a room at a local hotel but when deputies dropped him off they learned the hotel was full and there was no room for him so after consulting her they took him to another hotel. Later, someone reported seeing an intoxicated male near the Market Street bridge “attempting to hitchhike” home and he ended up back at the residence.
Needs help: A Bergholz resident said she’s been having issues with her daughter since she “began using marijuana gummies and drinking alcohol,” Monday. Mom said the combination makes her daughter “become aggressive” and said about a week ago they’d argued and her daughter went to live with a family member, who’d brought her back to the house that day to retrieve clothing. She said her daughter threw up all over the side of (granddad’s) truck and said he’d bought her daughter a Four Loko drink “and was possibly impaired by something else” and when she confronted her, her daughter “began pushing her and bit her on the leg.” Deputies said it was “just a scrape” but when they tried to speak with the daughter, it was immediately apparent “she was impaired as she was talking about things that made no sense, kept rambling on and sporadically yelled and slammed things.” They said they tried to reason with her “to no avail,” so they decided that, “based on (her) underlying mental health condition and her level of intoxication,” she needed to go to the hospital for an evaluation, which she agreed to do. No one wanted to pursue charges.
Game day: A county resident complained her ex-husband has been “vandalizing” a residence they are selling after their divorce, Friday. She said a judge had already noted “no damage could be caused to the residence” and supplied deputies with photos of the damage she said had been done, as well as photos showing the original condition.
Phoning it in: A Richmond resident reported her phone had been hacked again, Friday. She told deputies when she tries to call the FBI she’s connected instead to a suicide hotline” and said she even had trouble getting through to 9-1-1.
Concerned: A Wintersville caller reported hearing “screaming and cursing” at an elderly woman and believed a domestic was in progress, Sunday. The caller told deputies the screaming and cursing” is not new but was concerned the man was abusing the elderly woman, though he conceded it’s possible he was just yelling at a video game. Deputies checked on the pair and determined all was okay.
Robbed: A St. Clairsville man said someone broke into his camper at the Rayland Marina and stole a pocket watch and ring, Sunday. He told deputies the thief rummaged through the sleeping are and threw change on the floor.
Stretching the truth: An anonymous caller reported neighbors “playing loud music, riding their side-by-sides over the tracks and having a large bonfire” on their property, Saturday. The caller said it’s happening every weekend, “and it’s becoming an issue.” Deputies stayed in the area for some time and said they “observed no loud music and only a small group of individuals gathered around a small fire.”
Don’t look back: A woman at a resident on county Road 10, Adena, told deputies she and her mother were gathering some of her belongings to leave” and her boyfriend “came inside, intoxicated and was throwing things and threatened to burn the house down,” Saturday. She said he’d left the resident but wasn’t sure where he’d gone. Deputies couldn’t locate him and ended up giving the two women a ride to another location.
