Arson: A woman is believed to have set a clothing display on fire in Wal-Mart, Friday. Employees said the woman was seen on security footage “reaching into her purse then reaching under a clothing display” in the boys’ clothing section. A few seconds later, employees reported “you (could) see smoke and a small flame while (she) walked away” and before long the display was “in flames.” Employees initially believed the woman was still in the store but while police were searching the premises employees determined she had “left the store and was … walking near Pet Supplies Plus.” Police said the investigation is continuing.
Filthy: Police conducting a welfare check on three children said to be living at a Sixth Avenue location said no one was home but, once inside, they found “large amounts of garbage on the floor, along with several different kinds of bugs in the garage that was on the floor.” Officers advised building managers of the conditions and said if juveniles were living there to contact childrens’ services.
Food fight: A man threatened a city eatery “due to his food not being ready when he thought it should have been,” Friday. Employees said he called several times stating he was going to “end the business” and made several comments about going to the restaurant. They said he also posted messages on social media that “messing with him was the worst mistake they ever made and that he would make it his mission to put the (eatery) out of business.”
Vagrants: Someone pulled plywood off a vacant property in the 400 block of Market Street and broke a window, Friday. Police found the boards on the sidewalk and observed “fresh broken glass to the showroom window behind the boards.” No one was inside the building but police said they found “fresh boot prints leading in and out of the building” but from what they’d seen the plumbing had not been stripped.
Fraud: A Sinclair Avenue resident reported paying an individual in August to build him a new garage but the work has never been done, Friday.
