Steubenville Police

Violence reported: A city resident was booked into the Jefferson County Jail after an alleged domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Rosslyn Boulevard involving a firearm, Friday. Police said Nathaniel V. Flesher, 26, is facing charges of domestic violence and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. When they got there, police said a male was sitting in his vehicle with a stab wound to his back and was taken to the hospital for treatment. No further details were available.

Running around: A disturbance was reported at a residence in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue, Friday. The caller said his girlfriend had called his granddaughter “a derogatory name” and when they started arguing “she became hysterical and started running up and down the hallways.” His girlfriend confirmed what he’d said, though she added that at some point he’d “grabbed her by the arm” but she “didn’t want to pursue the matter or leave the residence.”

Sobering: A Wellsburg man said he picked his girlfriend up in the 1500 block of Oregon Avenue and was heading to his place when she “started yelling at him and attempted to grab the steering wheel, Saturday. He said he drove her back to the Oregon Avenue location, but she “would not leave his vehicle,” Saturday. She admitted to police she’d been drinking and wanted to get her things from his home in Wellsburg, but police suggested she should “relax for a while” and retrieve the items later in the day.

Asked and answered: A caller reported a man panhandling at Tri-State Plaza “and arguing with passersby,” Friday. Police said he told them “people were being rude to him and he was only responding to their comments.” He said he was waiting for the bus and would be gone soon, which he was.

Risky business: Someone spotted a man in a motorized wheelchair riding on the road” into oncoming traffic near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Johnson Road, Saturday. Police said they caught up to the man in the KFC parking lot and he told them he’d been at the grocery store “and did not realize SVRTA buses stopped … at 5 p.m.” He said he couldn’t navigate the sidewalk because of all the snow, but police advised him to avoid operating a wheelchair in oncoming traffic “as best as possible” and suggested he call someone for a ride so he could get out of the cold and avoid further risk.

Drunk and disorderly: Someone reported hearing yelling inside a residence in the 1200 block of Oregon Avenue, Friday. All was quiet when police arrived but they spoke with a resident who told them “a family was intoxicated and yelling” but had already left the area.

Mercurial: A woman in the 400 block of South Sixth Street reported a disturbance in her home, but when police arrived, she was “uncooperative and did to want to let (them) in the residence,” Saturday. She subsequently told police she “did not need (their) assistance.”

Hungry man: Employees at Kroger shared video with police of a man who “begins to conceal meat in his clothing,” then pushes his empty cart into a lobby and abandoned it when the wheels locked, Friday. Police said he left the store with the merchandise still tucked in his clothes.

Damaged: A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Rosslyn Boulevard was damaged overnight, Friday. The caller showed police scratches to the back left panel near the tire, but police said there was damage all around the vehicle. The caller wasn’t sure when the damage occurred, but another resident reported hearing a noise when a neighbor’s vehicle drove by “and thought the vehicle might have been struck.”

Light-fingered: A resident in the 500 block of South Fifth Street said someone stole several items she’d put on a table outside her door, Friday.

Causing problems: Police said vehicles “buried in snow” that haven’t been moved in weeks were making it difficult for motorists as well as emergency vehicles and street department plows to navigate the LaBelle area, Friday. Offending vehicles were issued pink warning tickets for overtime parking.

Can’t park: A car blocking “more than half the roadway” in the 1700 block of Oregon Avenue was towed, Friday. Police said the driver left the vehicle “(about) seven feet from the curb,” parked against traffic and within seven or eight inches (of) the bumper of another vehicle.” Police spoke with “many” residents in the area but no one knew whose car it was so the vehicle was impounded and towed and a ticket issued to the owner.

Snippy staff: A Woodland Avenue resident said she’s having trouble with her childrens’ day care provider, Friday. She said they attended regularly but they’d missed a couple weeks due to the weather and since them, claims the day care employees have been harassing her.

Familiar faces: A caller reported a couple causing a disturbance on South Fifth Street in the vicinity of Slack Street, Friday. Police located the couple involved and said both parties admitted they’d been arguing but said it was over.

Fanciful: A Mingo Junction man claimed to be “recording videos for a professional snow boarder” in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue, Saturday. He told police he was “almost done and would clean the snow out of the road” when he was finished.

Served: Dylan McElroy, 27. 237 N. Ninth St., Steubenville, warrant for misdemeanor theft, Saturday; Tremont Dawson, 23, 1616 Moreland Drive, Steubenville, warrant for failure to appear, Saturday.

Cited: Amber L. Harris, 38, 911 Euclid Ave., Toronto, failure to yield after a two-vehicle fender-bender in the 1700 block of Sinclair Avenue, Saturday.
