Steubenville Police
Concerning: A resident in the 1400 block of Adams Street said his wife had “grabbed a steak knife and locked herself in the bathroom,” Thursday. He said they’d been arguing over text messages “and she was attempting to kick him out of the residence.” He said after learning he’d called police she “began striking herself in the face and (said) she would blame the injuries on him.” The woman told police she was washing dishes when he said he’d called police. She said she wanted him to leave “but knows she cannot force him due to both (of them) being on the lease.” She said they’d been arguing over him texting another woman, but it ever escalated to a physical altercation.
Pipe down: A man moving out of a building in the 700 block of Kendall Avenue said he was getting his things out of a shared business and the neighbor was “at the top of the stairs screaming at him,” Thursday. His neighbor said she “just wanted to make sure that they didn’t take any of her items.”
Parking problems: A dispute erupted because a man parked in the 400 block of Colonial Drive was blocked in, Thursday. A resident said he’d been blocked in by other cars. Police spoke with the owners of the other vehicles involved, and they moved them.
Watered down: A pipe burst in an unused storefront in the plaza in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Friday. Water department employees asked police to stand by while they entered the building and shut the water off.
Cold: A woman walking on Washington Street Hill “began waving and yelling” toward a cruiser, Friday. She said she was walking home “but did not dress appropriately for the weather.” Due to the weather conditions, police gave her a ride to her home.
Dressing down: Callers reported a shirtless male walking in the roadway on the Lawson Avenue ramp, Friday. Police were unable to find him.
Charged: Angelise Rood, 20, 121 Hill St., Rayland, misdemeanor theft, Thursday. Rood allegedly tried to leave Wal-Mart with merchandise she hadn’t paid for, employees said.
Cited: James S.A. Blackwell, 46, 180 N. Fourth St., Apt. 502, Steubenville, driving under suspension and driving left of center Thursday after a head-on collision on John Scott Highway south of Mall Drive. Blackwell allegedly told police he was northbound on John Scott when his vehicle traveled left of center and was out of control. Police said the other driver suffered a broken ankle and was taken to the hospital for treatment along with two passengers. Both vehicles were severely damaged, police said.
Cited: Owners of four vehicles parked in such a way that it was difficult for vehicles to turn at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Woodlawn Road were ticketed for parking too close to an intersection.
