Alcohol talking: A man who’d had too much to drink was causing problems at the Texas Roadhouse, Wednesday. The manager said the man came in and ordered a beer but was “acting strangely and starting arguments with staff before going on tirades about the military.” Employees said other patrons were feeling uncomfortable so he was asked leave, but instead became “argumentative … and began calling (the manager) soft and threatening to have the military take care of him along with the mayor of Wintersville.” An off-duty Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy at dinner with his family stepped in to calm the situation, but said the man “continued talking nonsense and stating he was a boxer” and accusing the deputy of being “a White House collaborator” and threatening to “go to the deputy’s house with 100 friends.” The deputy said he ordered the man to leave, to which the man responded by threatening to sue him. The man eventually left and the deputy said he didn’t want to pursue charges, but management asked police to tell him he’s no longer welcome at the property. When police located him the man initially refused ot identify himself but eventually did and said he’d gone in for some drinks but “the manager was asking too many questions.” He said they argued and claimed he’d apologized before he left.
Road rage: A man walking his daughter to school in the alley behind Sherman Avenue said they had to move fast to get out of the way of a car “driving fast down the alley toward them,” Wednesday. He said the driver parked and before entering an apartment, “began to yell” at them, at one point saying, “I’m going to kill you.”
