Steubenville Police
Making mom proud: An officer stopped at a red light on Sunset Boulevard at DiGregory Avenue said when the light changed, he noticed the car in front didn’t move so another driver hit his horn, Tuesday. The driver of the lead vehicle, a juvenile “placed (his) vehicle in park and exited, approaching (the other driver) in a hostile and aggressive manner.” The juvenile “began screaming obscenities at (the other driver) and giving the driver his ‘middle fingers’,” thereby preventing other vehicles from moving through the intersection. Police said when they pulled him over the teen said he “was having a bad day and that the driver blowing the horn at him set him off,” but they pointed out he’d committed “multiple traffic offenses as well as disorderly conduct due to his fit in the middle of the street.” They let him go with a warning.
Parking rage: A trucker upset because he had to maneuver around a vehicle parked near the tire center at Wal-Mart began yelling at (an employee) sitting in the car, using several derogatory terms of address “and threatening to punch him,” Tuesday.
Not bright: Police got another call about “multiple juveniles walking on the ice near the middle” of the Ohio River, Tuesday. Callers said the kids were “somewhere between the train bridge and the Jefferson County jail but when they checked the riverbank where they could gain access, police said they didn’t find anyone.
Anger issues: The owner of a building in the 100 block of Orchard Street told police his tenant “keeps being rude to maintenance crews,” Tuesday. He said the tenant is “frustrated that workers keep entering the residence” to do what needs to be done and that day had “yelled at him and at one point aggressively brushed by him.” He said he’s going to start the eviction process and wanted a report on file. Police said the tenant had left the area so they couldn’t speak with him.
Irate: A woman in the 200 block of Edgar Avenue said her child’s father was visiting but the two of them got into an argument so she asked him to leave, Tuesday. She said he did, but returned not long after and when she wouldn’t let him back inside “began kicking her door.” Police were unable to locate the male.
Creepy: A city resident filed a harassment report, telling police a former client “has been contacting her work very frequently … since December,” Tuesday. She had documentation of his behavior, which she gave to police, and said she would like to pursue charges.
Windows broken: A caller in the 800 block of Market Street told police someone smashed two windows to an office building, Tuesday.
Oversight: A motorist backing out of his driveway hit a garbage truck stopped in front of a residence in the 300 block of Rosemont Avenue, Tuesday. No one was injured.
Clothes shopping: Employees at Wal-mart told police a woman fled the store with a purse loaded with jeans she hadn’t paid for, Tuesday.
One cited, one arrested: A traffic stop on Lawson Avenue at State Street resulted in Russell Loy, 42, 1567 state Route 43, being booked into the Jefferson County jail without bond for probation violation, police said. The woman at the wheel of the car, Rhiannon Thompson, 39, 17 Sunny Acres Drive, was cited for driving under suspension.
Charged: Patricia Kulow, 48, 142 Sunshine Park Road, Steubenville, petty theft, Tuesday. Employees at Wal-Mart alleged Kulow tried to leave the store with 11 items in her purse that she hadn’t paid for. They claim Kulow placed the items in the cart on top of her purse and then reached inside the bag and grabbing a notebook, causing the merchandise to fall inside the bag, police said. Kulow then put the notebook on top of her pursue “in what appeared to be an attempt to conceal the items,” police alleged.
Silly: Two men exited a vehicle in the 400 block of Washington Street and started harassing a third man, Tuesday. The man who was accosted said they started arguing with him, but it never escalated to a physical confrontation. He was advised to obtain a protection order and avoid the pair.
Brooke County Sheriff
Charged: Gregory L. Turner Jr., 46, 116 Belmont St., Weirton, obstructing an officer, Monday.
West Virginia State Police
Charged: Ernest E. Collins, 42, 220 Christy Way, Weirton, driving while license revoked for driving under the influence, no operator’s license or insurance, expired registration and improperly equipped vehicle, Monday.
