Steubenville Police
Seeing signs: A city resident told police she’s being harassed, Monday. She said there were “marks left in the snow that she believes were deliberately done by ‘people’ as a symbolic threat to her life.” She showed police a picture of a spot in the roadway she believed was a face and a pile of snow next to her vehicle that she thought was a person, and said she’s seen “numerous other symbolic threats towards her life, but was unable to explain what these sybols were or how they were threatening.” Police said her home was properly heated, she was dressed appropriately for the weather and she didn’t make any statements to suggest she was a threat to herself. She was advised to seek treatment.
At odds: A man visiting his brother at a residence in the vicinity of State Street at Maxwell Avenue said his brother “threw him out of the house and stole his Xbox and $50,” Monday. Police said he did have a laceration on his elbow but denied medical attention. They attempted to speak with the brother but were unable to make contact with him. He wants to pursue charges, so police told him the information would be forwarded to the prosecutor.
Intoxicated: Police responded to an apartment in the 700 block of North Seventh Street to assist city firefighters with a “possible combative patient,” Saturday. After speaking with the woman police reported she was “highly intoxicated” and had decided she wanted to go to the hospital for evaluation.
Help not needed: Someone reported hearing an individual inside a residence in the 400 block of Lawson Avenue calling for help, Saturday. An individual inside told police he and other workers “are demolishing the interior of the residence” and were being loud, “and someone was yelling for help with moving debris.”
Ex out: A man allegedly causing a disturbance outside a building in the 100 block of North Fourth Street told police he was there to “get his bank card from his ex-girlfriend,” Saturday. Police retrieved it from the ex and the man left.
Booked: Noah Martin, 28, 157 Cathy Drive, Wintersville, warrant for theft (Steubenville Municipal Court), Monday. Martin also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Still not working: An Adena man who’d been divorced “for around five or six years” moved back in with his ex but they’d argued and she threatened to call police, Saturday. He said he called a friend for a ride to a family member’s home, but left a used car he purchased two months ago behind and now she won’t let him have it. His ex lives in Harrison County, so deputies told him he’d have to contact them.
Three sheets to the wind: Deputies were asked to get a “very intoxicated” man out of a tavern in Yorkville where he was causing problems, Sunday. When they arrived, deputies said the man was “laying on the floor of the bar” and when they told him it was time to go, he “stood up” and said he was going to walk home, but due to what they described as his “high level of intoxication,” they told him that wasn’t possible. The bartender didn’t want to pursue charges but did want him to leave, so deputies took him home.
Throwing things: An Amsterdam man said he saw his estranged wife’s car driving by and whoever was in it “threw an object at his vehicle,” Saturday. He said he heard the object hit his vehicle as her vehicle was driving by, but he didn’t see if she or her boyfriend were driving. Deputies advised him what he’d need to do to obtain a protection order against the couple.
Cold: A man was found lying in the snow in the area of county Road 17 and state Route 7, Friday. When deputies arrived he was “standing against a truck, stating ‘my hands are cold,'” but deputies were unable to get information from him. Deputies said they tried to find out where he was from or how he got there, but he told them only that he “lives in Steubenville but doesn’t know his address.” Tiltonsville EMS transported him to the hospital for evaluation.
Car recovered: An East Liverpool resident asked police to stand by while she recovered her stolen car, Sunday. She told police a family friend contacted her husband to report he’d seen it parked on township Road 299 in Hammondsville. She said the man who stole her car had been staying in her apartment complex and asked her for a ride to Wellsville, but she told him no but left her car running while she ran back inside to grab something from her home. When she returned, she said her vehicle and the man who’d asked for a ride were gone. A family friend contacted them to report the vehicle ran out of gas and he’d bought it from the thief before he opened the glove box and realized it didn’t belong to the man.
Suspicious: An Adena resident said she heard what sounded like someone pulling on her screen door and then messing with her vehicle, Sunday. She said a neighbor had told her he saw someone “in all black, standing under a tree” by a nearby house. Deputies checked the area but didn’t find anyone suspicious.
