Steubenville Police
Faked: A city resident said someone created a fake social media account using her name and picture and now is impersonating her, Friday. She said the fake account is “creating issues for her” at her job in Weirton by harassing her boss and his girlfriend. She said she tried to talk with the couple but “the issue is not resolved.”
Driver charged: A man was taken into custody after police found him in a truck parked in the grass near the intersection of state Route 7 and University Boulevard, Friday. Police said the man seemed nervous and allege that he gave them several different explanations for why he was there, first saying the truck wouldn’t drive forward and the driver and his twin brother took his pickup to Weirton to get a part to fix it, then later telling police his son had dropped him off at the truck and he didn’t know the name of the driver because he had a twin and couldn’t tell them apart but he had the driver’s phone number. Police allegedly spotted a gun on the floor of the cab and reported charging Christopher J. Rice, 48, 1304 Park Ave., Steubenville, with having a weapon under disability and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, a used crack pipe. He also was cited for driving under suspension and having no commercial driver’s license. Rice said the gun was not his, and he was unaware it was in the cab, police said.
Sleeping it off: An unresponsive male was reported in a car parked in the parking lot at the Fort Steuben Mall, Friday. Upon arrival, police said the male was alert and responsive and told them he’d “had too much to drink and was sleeping in his car.” The man’s wife arrived and took him and the car home.
Ripped: An Oregon Avenue man said his girlfriend’s package was stolen off their porch, Friday. The package contained cake decorations.
Cited: Employees at McDonald’s said a man at the wheel of a U-Haul tried to pull into the drive-through and ended up scraping the awning, Friday. Jacob T. Nale, 31, 638 Arden Ave., Steubenville, was cited for driving under suspension.
Jefferson County Sheriff
Domestic: A Jefferson County man was taken into custody after he allegedly was involved in a shoving match with the mother of his two children, Tuesday. Deputies said someone called 9-1-1, but dispatchers had trouble ascertaining why because of a “commotion” taking place and it “sounded like” the parties were fighting. The female said they had been arguing “for several days” and she’d loaded her kids into the van to drop them off at her parent’s house on her way to work, but the male “came running outside and jumped into the passenger seat (and) … began yelling at her about not taking his kids.” She said they ended up outside the van, shoving each other and at one point she ended up on the ground, where she cut her finger, before retreating inside with the kids. Her father said when he came to get the kids his daughter told him she’d been holding the kids when their father allegedly tried to pull one of them out of her arms and there’s “a history of toxicity between them,” but admitted both of them have “anger issues.” Deputies said her male companion told them they’d been talking about splitting up and when he ran out to keep her from driving off with his kids claims she “floored the vehicle backward, dragging him with it” until he was able to “get in and stop the car by turning the key off.” Deputies pointed out since they’re not married the woman can take the kids wherever she wants to, but he allegedly told them he didn’t want her driving any of his vehicles. When they asked him how she was supposed to take the children anywhere, they said he told them report that he replied, “To be honest, it’s not my problem.” He also told deputies she hit him in the chest and showed them a cut on his knee but claimed he “did not touch (her) and never placed hands on her.” Deputies said James Dimirack, 33, of Toronto was charged with domestic violence.
