Big leap: A Wellesley Avenue resident was booked into the Jefferson County jail after he allegedly crawled out a window and jumped off a roof to avoid being charged in connection with a neighborhood disturbance, Thursday. Police said Logan Joshua Trosky, 25, 1320 Wellesley Ave., was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing justice, menacing and criminal mischief. A neighbor had reported her vehicle being damaged and a window at her home “punched and shattered” by Trosky, whose female companion told them alleged they’d been arguing about their children and he “became agitated, striking out at the vehicle and breaking the neighbor’s window. Trosky was in a second-floor bedroom when they located him, who confirmed the argument but denied assaulting his companion and said the vehicle he damaged “was left in front of the property for his use,” police report. When they told him that being allowed to use it from time to time didn’t make the car his and instructed Trosky to stand, police allege he instead crawled out the window and jumped. They searched the neighborhood and eventually located him back at his residence, hiding in the back yard. He was taken to Trinity Medical Center West to be treated for injuries he’d sustained and while there, they said he “became agitated and began striking his head off of the side-wall area inside the hospital, causing injury to his mouth and screaming. While screaming, police said Trosky was “spitting blood” on them.

Inside job: Circle K managers reported the theft of more than $1,000 in scratch-off and online lottery tickets in October, Thursday. Winning tickets that weren’t paid for were cashed in, they said.

Hot mess: A large yellow box truck caught fire at the intersection of state Route 7 and North Third Street, Thursday. The driver told police he was headed to a nearby gas station “because he felt there may have been some issues with his brakes” when he heard a “loud bang” in the area of his rear tires. City firefighters extinguished the flames.

Entry gained: A real estate agent showing a house on Logan Avenue said she arrived with a client only to find the doorknob on the side door had been broken off and the lock box was missing, Thursday. She said the front door was “slightly open” but the storm door was locked. Police located the owner who asked them to check the interior, but no one was inside.

Roll away: A thief loaded Kroger merchandise into a shopping cart and left the store without paying, Thursday. Employees said when the cart’s wheels locked up the thief loaded the items into another cart and left. The merchandise was valued at $400.

Quick call: A Whitehaven Boulevard caller reported a car “parked outside with its lights on,” Thursday. The owner of the car told police he’d only been there 15 minutes while his girlfriend was “grabbing stuff from her parent’s house.”

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 368 Summit Ave., litter, junk, tires and scrap metal in yard, as well as furniture and other indoor items stored on front porch; 706 Franklin Ave., litter and trash in rear of property.

Jefferson County

Sheriff

Concern: A county Road 33 (Wintersville) resident told deputies she was concerned because a younger male who “looked a lot like Shaggy from Scooby Doo” and wearing a hoodie and pants told her he was walking to Steubenville, Thursday. She said she was concerned because of the extreme cold temperatures. Deputies were unable to locate him.

Lock it or lose it: A resident on township Road 382 (Steubenville) reported someone with “bushy hair” was trying to get into her car, Thursday. Deputies were unable to locate the individual but said it was “apparent someone was around the vehicle due to footprints left in the snow.” Nothing was missing but they advised the woman to lock her car doors, which she doesn’t normally do.
