Grow up: A woman claimed her ex-boyfriend saw her in a parking lot in the 4300 block of Sunset Boulevard and backed into her car, but when they reviewed security footage police said it appeared she was the aggressor, Friday. Police said she had a small dent and some paint transfer on her bumper and reported that while they were talking to her the ex returned and told them “a different account of the incident.” He told police he was backing out of a parking space when she tried to block him in, causing the collision, and showed them a small dent on his passenger side rear quarter panel. Police said that, “having prior knowledge of both motorists’ numerous incidents and police response concerning civil and relationship quarrels, and that both began screaming and arguing on scene,” they sent both parties to their cars with instructions to stay away from each other and a warning that charges could be forthcoming once they were able to review the camera footage. After reviewing the footage, police said the female initially pulled into the lot and parked behind a box truck for a time before pulling out and driving away, “then came back into the parking lot and again passed behind (her ex’s car)” and when her ex started backing up, she “stopped and (reversed), and appeared to attempt to block (him) in its parking stall, causing a minor collision.” Police said they watched the man try “several times to get away” from her “and observed several blatant and obvious counter-measures from (the female) attempting to keep (him) blocked in.”
Could’ve been worse: A tractor-trailer collided with a passenger vehicle at the intersection of state Route 7 and University Boulevard, Friday afternoon. Police say the driver of the truck, Omar U.D. Daniel, 30, Stockton, Calif., told them he was southbound on Route 7 when the light turned and he proceeded through the intersection, striking a sedan attempting a left onto Route 7. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and the female driving the car and her passenger were taken to the hospital for evaluation, police said. Daniel was cited for a red light violation.
Fled: Police spotted a car on South Street with an expired registration and said the driver made it abundantly clear he didn’t want to pull over, Friday. The driver cut through the Hawk Gas station, “nearly striking a vehicle” as he accelerated out of the parking lot, running two stop signs and a red light before driving the wrong way at high speeds on Railroad Avenue, at one point striking the railroad tracks sign and nearly struck the railroad tracks.” Police said when the male crossed the Lincoln Avenue intersection he started to lose control “but then re-corrected and continued towards state Route 7 southbound” at a high rate of speed.
Animal magnetism: Police had to referee a disturbance in the 400 block of North Sixth Street, Sunday. The homeowner said he and his female companion “were in a verbal altercation” but it never turned physical. He claimed she was “intoxicated and would not leave him alone.” She claimed she was “sleeping on the floor” when the homeowner “kicked her.” She said she “just wanted to be left alone for the night” and didn’t want to pursue charges, which worked out because police said neither of them showed signs of being in an altercation. They agreed to separate for the night.
