Not leaving: A city resident told police her father was parked in front of her home “trying to get her to come home with him” but she didn’t want to leave, Monday. She said he’d threatened to “drag her from the residence and place her in the vehicle and take her back to his residence,” but she is an adult and living with her boyfriend. There was no indication why he was so insistent, but police told her they couldn’t force him to leave the area “due to him being parked on a public roadway.” Police told her what she’d have to do to get a protection order.
Too much TV: An Adams Street resident said a juvenile had “called him and threatened him,” Monday. The caller said the juvenile told him he was “going to have a hit put out on him.”
Rolled away: Employees at Coen Market said an individual in a motorized wheelchair grabbed “various alcoholic beverages and a fountain drink” and then left the store without paying for any of them, Monday.
Head scratcher: A Lauretta Drive resident told police she and her husband had argued and he threw a 2-liter bottle of orange pop at her, Monday. She said the bottle was only a quarter of the way full, but it struck her in the head and she was concerned because her husband “scratched himself before leaving … and told her he’d tell police she (was responsible.)” Police said she had no apparent injuries but advised her about agencies that could help “her in her situation.” While they were speaking with her police said her husband called the station and said he “wanted to speak with an officer,” but they couldn’t locate him.
Booked: A Woodland Avenue resident was booked into the Jefferson County jail after he allegedly threatened harm to individuals living there, Monday. Jay Donnelly, 40, 500 Woodland Ave., was charged with domestic violence, police said.
Cited: Thomas R. Welling, 29, 410 Maxwell Ave., Steubenville, hit-skip after allegedly hitting a transport van parked on Adams at Eighth streets and leaving the scene, Monday. The owner of the van said he heard the crash and was outside in time to see a tan sedan with four people in it driving away and managed to get a picture of it that he showed police. Police located a vehicle at North Seventh and Dock streets with its flashers on and said four people walking, and when they questioned Welling claim he initially denied being near Adams Street, then when they told him they had a picture of the hit-and-run vehicle he allegedly admitted he was there but thought he’d struck a white pole.
Questions: Police checked a property in the 400 block of North Fourth Street to make sure no one was squatting inside, Monday. They said they didn’t find any “buckets that were part of the original complaint,” either.
Booked: Shawn Ryan, 54, 2819 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, bench warrant, Monday.
