Steubenville Police
Fled: A resident in the 900 block of Potter Avenue scared a thief away, Friday. He told police his dogs were barking and when he looked out his window saw a man “trying to open his car door.” He said he “opened his house door and yelled at the man,” who took off running.
No recall: A Lawson Avenue resident reported a hit-and-run in the 200 block of North Fourth Street at the end of October, Thursday. She said she didn’t report it right away because she didn’t know if she could. She also said she didn’t know the day or time of the accident, but said she was sitting in her vehicle at the time and her vehicle sustained damage to the rear bumper and fender.
Grow up, mom: A juvenile said as she walked home from school, “a juvenile she has been having problems with and her mother circled the block several times in a vehicle,” Thursday. Neither of them spoke to her but she said they passed by her multiple times.
Runaway chair: Patrons parked at Schiappa Library reported a wheelchair rolled across the parking lot, striking their cars, Thursday.
Pet hit: A resident in the 700 block of Oakmont Avenue told police he was upset because “a gold sedan speeding up and down the street struck one of his cats,” Thursday.
Code issue: Notice of violation was sent to the owner/occupant of a property at 1232 Maryland Ave., household garbage scattered all over the front, side and back yards and piled on the porch.
