Solicitation alleged: A West Virginia woman is in custody after she allegedly tried to solicit sex during a chat with an undercover officer posing as a “john”, Wednesday. Police, working with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, allege that Danielle Molt, 34, 1030 West Liberty Road, Bethany “agreed to provide sexual services to the officer for an agreed upon amount,” with a teenage female in the car with her. They said Molt was taken into custody at the address provided by the undercover officer and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of soliciting prostitution, possessing criminal tools and endangering children, police said.
Teach your children better: Three juveniles throwing rocks at a homeless couple ran when the male came out of his tent near the train bridge in the North End to try and get cell service and call the police, then two of them circled back to steal the woman’s phone and kicked her repeatedly in the head, Wednesday. The woman said she was kicked “at least six times” and two of the juveniles were white, police said. As they patrolled the area looking for the trio police said a youth “walked up to (them) and stated he was one of the subjects we were looking for” and was detained after being identified by the homeless couple and an independent witness. He was turned over to a family member. Two other juveniles were located in the 500 block of North Street and were taken to the county Juvenile Detention Center.
On camera: A South Sixth Street resident reported her neighbor’s children “continuously knock on (her) door and run,” Wednesday. She said she’d just watched a juvenile knock on her front door then “run to the back and kick(ed) her back door,” and when confronted reports the juvenile “began to yell and cause a scene.” Police advised they would check camera footage “as the accused were denying any involvement,” and after they did that report they returned to the location for property damage and said “the issue was handled and will be referred.”
Long, cold walk: Police stopped to check on a woman with two small children they saw walking near Fourth and Slack streets, Thursday. The woman said she was trying to get to the hospital “to see a family member” in the emergency department, so police gave them a ride.
Funny money: A customer passed two counterfeit $100 bills at Wal-Mart, Wednesday. Employees gave police the bogus bills as well as surveillance footage of the transaction.
Scam try: A woman said she’s receiving spam emails “stating (she should) stay away from someone’s daughter,” Wednesday. She told police she doesn’t have issues with anyone, so they advised her that the messages “are odd (but) she should just ignore them.”
Damaged: A Logan Avenue resident said she discovered a spindle on her porch railing had been broken overnight, Wednesday.
