Road rage: Roadworkers in Island Creek Township Road 381 said three men drove into the work zone with three men in it despite “road closed” signs that had been posted and began arguing with them, Friday. One of the roadworkers said he was arguing with the driver when a younger male sitting in the back seat leaned forward between the seats “and pointed a gun at him.” Deputies said Kevin J. Kuri, no age listed, 408 Ohio St., Tiltonsville, was charged with aggravated menacing and obstructing justice after they located a pickup matching the description and plate number the roadworkers had given them, its owner told them he had a Taurus locked in his center console and Kuri allegedly confirmed he’d been sitting in the backseat, though he denied having a gun.
Dueling stories: A Cadiz Road resident told deputies a neighbor with whom she and her boyfriend have had ongoing issues had “chased her down from the car wash with a crowbar,” Thursday. She said she was walking to a nearby gas station when the neighbor allegedly “attempted to hit her with (his) truck.” She said they argued and when he tried to grab her a physical confrontation between him and her boyfriend ensued. She claims the neighbor grabbed her boyfriend by the throat and took him to the ground and was choking him, so she grabbed a metal baseball bat and hit him with it to get him off her boyfriend. She told deputies the neighbor went into his home and “returned with a crowbar which he swung at them.” Deputies said the caller’s boyfriend had red marks on his neck and told them she had surveillance footage of the neighbor in front of her home taking his shirt off. Deputies said the neighbor claimed the caller and her boyfriend were the aggressors, reporting he’d gone to the gas station and when he returned, “the (caller) was yelling at him and telling him that he tried to hit her with his truck.” He said they argued and then her boyfriend came out and tried to hit him, so he threw her boyfriend into the grass “and when he got over him the (female) struck him with a bat,” then showed deputies a “visible oblong red raised area.” All involved want to pursue charges, so deputies told them the information would be presented to the prosecutor’s office for review.
Stuck: A Mingo Junction woman said her husband “kicked her out of his vehicle … and told her she can’t come home,” Saturday. She told deputies she was “sitting on the guardrail and (didn’t) know what to do,” so they gave her a ride to a family member’s residence.

Stupid is as stupid does: A group of young males was causing problems at Fort Steuben Park and one of them had thrown a metal park table, Monday. When the man was asked to put it back where he found it he allegedly “began to swear and knock chairs around” before complying, though he made “several more profane comments.” Police told him to leave the park, which he did, but said he stayed in the area and eventually “jumped off the handicap railing of the city building.”
No supervision: A downtown resident reported seeing juveniles “throwing debris from a wooded area onto the roadway” in the 700 block of North Eighth Street, Monday. As police arrived, they reported hearing glass breaking and spotted a male juvenile wearing a black sweatshirt with a black bookbag running through the woods, and not long after another officer located two youths, one of them matching that description, walking on McCook Boulevard. Police said they identified the pair, then made contact with their guardians.

Charged: Matthew Edwards, 38, 732 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, criminal trespass, Tuesday. An Oakmont Avenue resident told police a man had attempted to enter her house and was currently sitting in a car across the street, Tuesday. Police said the male appeared to be “passed out in the passenger seat of the vehicle” with what they believed to be an alcoholic beverage in the center console. They allege the man was “(unable) to explain the situation” and was unsure how he got to the location but has family in the vicinity. At the homeowner’s request, police said Matthew Edwards, 38, 732 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, was issued a summons for criminal trespass.
Charged: Employees at Wal-Mart said a male allegedly fled the store with a backpack containing merchandise he hadn’t paid for, Monday. Police located a man matching the description employees had given them but report he denied being at the store “and self-initiated a consent search of his person, emptying his pockets and placing all his belongings on the ground.” After employees came to the scene with a photograph of the person they were looking for police allege Grace admitted leaving his backpack on mall property behind a dumpster and “didn’t want to wait a few more months to be of age” to legally purchase four alcoholic beverages found in it. Police said Jamal E. Grace, 20, 3216 Sunset Blvd., Apt. 6, Steubenville, was issued a summons for petit theft.
