Juveniles in custody: Two juveniles were taken into custody Saturday after they allegedly tried to rob a man in an alley in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Sunday. The victim told police the two males “got him to go to an alley … and began assaulting him,” punching him in the face several times and demanding he give them his backpack. He said he was “able to get away, and the two involved began running south on Fourth Street. Police gave chase, catching up to the pair in Webster Alley where an officer tackled both of them to the ground. The youths were charged with assault and obstruction. Police said the victim had minor injuries and refused treatment.

Causing problems: Police were told a woman was causing a disturbance, this time in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Friday. Police told her she needed to leave the area, which she did. The next day, a caller reported the same woman was in the basement of a building on Logan Street, refusing to leave. Police checked the basement, but she’d left, though they were called back a few minutes later because she was “sleeping next to a garbage can.” Police told her she could ‘t stay at the location and said she “began gathering some things” and left.

Have it your way: Two callers reported a woman causing a disturbance in the mall parking lot, Friday. The woman herself called 9-1-1 to complain she was “being harassed by her significant other” from Georgia. She told police she is homeless “and insisted on getting contact with a help line in regard to her situation,” but because she was acting erratic and fidgeting constantly, they feared she was under the influence of drugs. Officer said they tried to convince her to go to the hospital but the woman refused, but while she admitted using methamphetamine in the past but she said she’d “just left there and wasn’t going back” and walked away, only to call 9-1-1 again to say she wanted to go to the women’s shelter. Police took her to the shelter, but it was full, so then she told the staff “she only needed to use the phone” so they let her.

Shaded: A caller reported seeing a man under bushes in the 2000 block of Sunset Boulevard, Saturday. The man told police “he was walking and was trying to find some shade to cool off.” He said he didn’t need any assistance.

Hang it up: A woman at work in the 4400 block of Sunset Boulevard said a female known to her “has been calling her at work and she would like it to stop,” Saturday. She said the woman had called “at least six times” that day about a cell phone. Police spoke with the caller, who told police she “was not going to stop calling” and they told her a second time to stop, but she said she “wanted her property back.” Police told the caller it was a matter for the courts but say she told them “she was not going to stop calling the store.” A couple hours later, police were told the woman was contacting the store again, so police were going to the caller’s home to speak with her.

Cited: A woman was cited after police allegedly spotted her going through the intersection of Maple Street and Ross Avenue without stopping, Sunday. Police reported the driver, identified as Erin Zimmerman, 39, no address listed, told them “she did not believe she needed to stop (there) due to just leaving the residence near the corner.” Police said Zimmerman was cited for a stop sign violation.

Gone: A caller reported seeing a man lying in the roadway near the Lawson Avenue overpass, Saturday. Police checked the area, but he’d moved on.

Cited: Andrew Loveless, 42, 1221 Oak Grove Ave., Steubenville, operating a vehicle under the influence and stop sign violation; Anthony Kelley, 18, 1420 Belleview Blvd., Steubenville, no operator’s license.

Big boom: A resident in the 1000 block of McNeal Avenue told police someone let off fireworks that “were so loud … their TV monitor fell and broke,” Saturday. The resident said the fireworks “came from down the road, near Lincoln,” police said.

Wrong place: A motorist parked his car in a stranger’s driveway in the 400 block of Lovers Lane and it was towed, Saturday. Christopher Capps, 54, Canal Fulton, was cited for the parking violation.

Unwanted: A woman in the 1400 block of Oregon Avenue said a man opened her gate and entered her back yard, Saturday. She told police when he saw her watching him through the window, he left.
