Brooke County Sheriff

Charged: Juston Kellenbarger, 50, 213 Yankee St., Wellsburg, obstructing an officer and assault on an officer, June 3 for allegedly threatening to harm a sheriff’s deputy if he attempted to handcuff him and resisting arrest when they were responding to a report the man was going to paddle his children.

Charged: Paul Pulice, 59, 108 Ninth St., Wellsburg, driving under the influence, Monday.

Steubenville Police

Trio charged: A driver was issued a summons to appear and his two passengers booked into the county jail after a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Sunset Boulevard, Saturday. Police said Deysen Lasure, 25, 559 N. Fifth Street, Toronto, and Marta Cutlip, 48, 1213 Claire Ave., Steubenville, were both charged with felony drug possession, while the driver, James Fuchs, 51, 511 N. Fifth Street, Toronto, was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. Lasure also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for no operator’s license, while Cutlip also faces a misdemeanor drug possession charge. Police allegedly found a crack pipe under the console by the driver’s seat as well as a white rock-like substance believed to be cocaine-based “and what appeared to be numerous individual bagged pieces of crack cocaine,” as well as items they said appeared to belong to Lasure in a bag behind the driver’s seat, plus a purse allegedly containing Cutlip’s ID, eight suboxone strips and several pieces of what was believed to be crack cocaine. Fuchs was booked into the county jail late Monday after missing his hearing in Steubenville Municipal Court on the possession charge and appeared in court Tuesday to plead guilty. Fuchs was fined $70 plus costs.

Assault reported: A man was taken into custody after he allegedly attacked a man walking his dog in the 600 block of North Sixth Street, Monday. Police said James Wray Ramsey, 59, 815 N. Sixth St., Apt. 513, Steubenville, was charged with assault. The dog walker alleged Ramsey assaulted him when he refused to leave the vacant lot where he’d been walking his dog because he had the owner’s permission. The dog walker said the two of them “exchanged words” and he ended up directing a derogatory term to Ramsey who he said then “threw a water bottle containing beer at him and then attacked him.” Police located a bottle in the field and said it did contain beer. They said the dog walker “had several bruises and (his face) was bleeding.” Ramsey was charged with assault, police said.

Fishy: A Wildon Avenue resident said two juveniles “stepped over the fence (onto) her side and attempted to take fish out of one of her ponds,” Monday.

Causing problems: A resident in the 100 block of North Fourth Street said another woman has been harassing her, “continuously calling her names and swearing at her” while she’s in the common area outside their building, Monday. She told police she’s got a job and worries that it will “carry over” to that.

Robbed: An Oxford Boulevard resident said someone entered her home in April and stole her wedding ring, Monday. She said her bedroom window was ajar and thought that was how the thief entered. She valued the stolen ring at $2,500, she said.

Topsy-turvy: A Pittsburgh Street resident said a friend had “thrown items throughout (his) house” and requested he be taken to the hospital to be evaluated, but the friend had already left the scene, Monday. Police located the male, but he refused to speak with police, who said no threats were made and he didn’t appear to be in distress.

Hearing things: Someone reported hearing a woman and child crying in the 400 bock of Railroad Avenue, Monday. Police said they located a couple who admitted they’d been arguing.

Loud: A caller complained that someone in the 1100 block of Oak Grove Avenue was playing their radio too loudly, Tuesday. Police said a resident had the volume too high on the TV and had him turn it down.

Charged: Timothy McCoy, 25, 143 First St., Bergholz, failure to appear, Monday.

Cited: Jesse Tharp, 36, 501 township Road 456, Irondale, assured clear distance ahead after a two-car collision with no reported injuries Monday in the 2300 block of Sunset Boulevard; Pier Asci, no age listed, 607 Granard Parkway, Steubenville, hit-skip on private property after allegedly striking a vehicle parked in the 200 block of North Fourth Street.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Property issue: A Dillonvale resident whose property shares a driveway with a neighbor said the woman “has been causing issues with his tenants and had run two off already,” June 9. He said she’s been blocking the drive with boards with tires and nails sticking out of them. The neighbor insisted it wasn’t intentional and said they “must have slid down (her) hill and stopped on the roadway.” She said the boards were there because she’s fixing her pool.

Pointed message: A Yorkville resident said he was hanging out at a friend’s place in Dillonvale when someone slashed two tires and “poured brake fluid down his gas tank,” June 4.

Burgled: A Bergholz area resident said someone broke into her shed, out-building and camper, June 3. She said the thief took a four-foot tall Marilyn Monroe picture, two older laptops, a push mower, weed whacker, mini frig, nostalgic microwave, a black Bulova with a diamond, a mirrored cabinet filled with jewelry, family photos, clothing storage rack, old currency and bills, a silver heart Pandora ring with two stones, an old wood stove with a cast iron top, a kerosine stove, a speaker and head unit for a radio and a DJ stand still in the box.

Damaged: A Two Ridge Road resident said she discovered her taillight had been broken, June 9. She said there were no other marks on the vehicle.

Booked: Timothy McCoy, 25, 143 First St., Bergholz, two warrants for obstructing official business (Wintersville County Court) and probation violation (Toronto County Court), June 4; Kyle Marsh, 30, 67 Hubbard Road, Wheeling, probation violation (Dillonvale County Court), June 4.

Playing games: A caller reported seeing juveniles on the roof of an old church on state Route 7 in Pottery Addition, June 4. No one was on the roof when deputies arrived, but three teens in the vicinity advised they were playing hide and seek with a fourth person and admitted being on the steps of the building but denied being on the roof. Two of them said they didn’t think anything about being on the property since it’s a school bus stop. All were advised to be careful going on private property without permission.
