Tuck and roll: A man said he was assaulted while visiting a friend in the 800 block of North Sixth Street, Wednesday. He told police he answered a knock at the door “and was immediately struck by (his friend’s) son.” Police said he didn’t offer much detail about why his friend’s son would want to hit him, but his lower lip was bloody and swollen and he had a small bump on his forehead. His friend said they’d been sitting on the couch, and he was concerned with a mark on her lip and thought her son had hit her, though she told him “numerous times” the mark had nothing to do with her son. She said when her guest opened the door and saw her son, he tried to hit him and the two of them “ended on her kitchen floor, fighting.”

Over the hill: Police were asked to check on the welfare of a man in the 200 block of North Eighth Street who was “possibly down on the hillside,” Wednesday. Police located the man at his residence, “intoxicated and bleeding from (his) arm.” He said he was trying to get home when he fell but declined medical attention multiple times, telling people he just wanted to go inside and go to bed.

He saw, she saw: A disturbance was reported in the 3100 block of Central Avenue, Thursday. A male sitting on steps near the sidewalk said he and his girlfriend were arguing over “relationship issues” and he just wanted his phone so he could leave. The girlfriend said she didn’t know where his phone was and told police the relationship issues were caused by “the material that she observed on his phone.” She said he shoved her but she didn’t want to pursue charges and just wanted him to leave for the night, so police took him to his mother’s home.

Moving in: An officer on patrol in the 200 block of North Seventh Street reported finding “a large amount of clothing and empty beer cans” inside the fenced enclosure behind a now-empty auto parts store, Wednesday. Police said someone “is obviously sleeping there.”

Overlooked: A Sunset Boulevard resident told police that since December she’s been charged more than $114 a month more than she should have been by AEP and Columbia Gas, Wednesday. She said both utilities had been tacking on an added charge for XOOM Energy on her bill but she “didn’t notice the charges until recently.” When she contacted the companies, she was told they’d been added by someone associated with the account online, but the information associated with the person using it was incorrect. The charges have been canceled, but the utilities told her they were unable to refund the overpayments.

Locked out: A Lincoln Avenue resident said he and his live-in girlfriend were arguing, Wednesday. The female said she was okay and didn’t want to talk to police so they left, but about 40 minutes later were called back to the residence. The male said they’d started arguing again and she’d locked him out of the apartment, but before they got there she opened the door so he could get his car keys and leave.

Hostile: North Sixth Street residents said a woman “had been making statements about them abusing drugs and (other things) to them and other people,” Wednesday. They said they’d reported it to building security and wanted to know what else they could do, so police advised them to get a no contact order. The other woman claimed the male “had made threats to her and wanted a report on file.” Police told her the same thing.

No interest: Sherman Avenue residents said an elderly female was “exposing herself to juveniles in the area,” Wednesday. The kids told police the woman may have been intoxicated and had been “making sexual remark to everyone outside.” No one could identify her and she left before police arrived.

Walk ins: A North Fourth Street resident complained that his parents wouldn’t leave his home, Thursday. He said they own the house but do not live there and he pays them rent and also “leases out other rooms” in the home. He told police his “parents let themselves inside the residence whenever they want and believe they can come and go as they please.” He said that night they’d “let themselves in and demanded rent money from him and others in the residence.” Police told him unless they live in the home, his parents cannot enter whenever they wish.

Sad state: Deputies found a woman sleeping in a car parked at the marina, Thursday. They told her it was closed and waited until she left.

Vandalized: A woman in the 1400 block of Oregon Avenue said someone damaged her tire overnight, Wednesday.

Cited: Zoe Nicole Martin, 19, 328 N. Forest Ave., Steubenville, failure to control after striking a parked car. Martin told police she swerved to avoid hitting an animal that ran out in front of her car.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Goofy: A Mingo Junction resident told deputies she’d invited a man into her apartment, but he pulled a gun on her, Wednesday. She said she was able to talk him into putting the gun down and afterward they “exchanged numbers” and said now he’s “texting her and making her feel uncomfortable.”

Threats: A Yorkville resident said his former landlady is threatening him, Wednesday. He said he woman is “posting videos asking someone to go collect money she claims he owes her.”

Shadowed: A Bergholz man said someone was following him the past few weeks and “taking things out of his car and residence,” Wednesday. He said he also found drugs in his car.
