Steubenville Police
Slight miscalculation: A man on a bicycle turned right from onto N. 6th street and dinged a police cruiser trying to squeeze between it and the sidewalk, Sunday. Police said there “was not a big enough gap” for him to navigate through and his tires slid on the gravel while making the turn. He left a small dent and a scratch on the side of the cruiser.
Weighty problem: A caller said a friend left several pieces of weight lifting equipment he wanted him to have on the side of a Lincoln Avenue business, but when he got there it was gone, Sunday. He said they checked surveillance footage and saw a man dragging the items to across the street and left them alongside a house. After reviewing the camera footage police spoke with the homeowner who had just returned home and was obviously not the same man they’d watched on the surveillance footage. He said a neighbor sometimes puts metal items on the side of his property and told the caller to retrieve his things.
Bush whacking: A Ross Street resident said his home security system caught footage of a couple removing a weedeater from the trunk of his car but he’d found it, undamaged, “hidden in the bushes” across the street, Sunday. He said the vehicle was unlocked at the time.
All clear: Police searched a Claire Avenue property to make sure no one was inside, Sunday. They said the new owner was worried someone was living in the property and told them the previous tenant had been evicted.
Took possession: A Lincoln Avenue resident said her neighbor’s children stole two scooters from her property Saturday. She said she went to the neighbor’s house and retrieved one of them “because it was out in the yard.” Police spoke with the other woman, who said she didn’t know where the second scooter was and the son who had it was not at home. She said she would talk to him and if she got the scooter, would return it to the other family.
Driver, passenger charged: A vehicle allegedly going the wrong way in the 200 block of North Court Alley was pulled over, and police discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant, Sunday. Police said the driver, Allison Trzaskoma, 35, 309 South Bend Blvd., Steubenville, was booked into the county jail on the municipal court warrant and also charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly found a crack pipe in a sweatshirt she took off prior to getting out of the car and a small bag containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine in her purse. Her passenger, Tyka Petrella, 35, 2402 Sunset Blvd., was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia, a crack pipe. Petrella denied it belonged to her, but police said they found it where she had been seated and it was in a black purse that contained another purse belonging to her.
Injured: A woman reported a female known to her had “struck her in the face under her left eye,” Sunday. Police said she was intoxicated, but she did have minor injuries and wanted to pursue charges. Her female assailant had fled the area, but police looked for her anyway since she had an outstanding warrant. A male that was with the alleged victim also had minor injuries to his lip but did not wish to speak with police.
Booked: Joshua Johnson, 33, 300 Miller Ave., Weirton, warrant for failure to comply, Friday. Police said they took Johnson into custody at the Allegheny County (PA) jail, where he had been held as a fugitive from justice.
Cited: Tariah Hython, 20, 3013 Whitehaven Blvd., Steubenville, no operator’s license and failure to yield left turn after a two-vehicle crash Friday at the intersection of North and Third Street. Police allege Hython turned left onto North Third Street, into the path of an oncoming vehicle. One injury was reported.
Cited: April Stanley, 50, no fixed address, littering.
Common denominator: Police reviewed video of two prior thefts from Lowes involving the same male, Saturday, In March the man and another male left the store without paying for a leaf blower and trimmer valued at $538. In April the same man and two friends bought a welder and left the store, then he came back inside with the same receipt and grabbed another welder the receipt “to leave with the unpaid for welder.” The stolen welder was valued at $399, police said.
Pushing her luck: Police were told a woman continued to harass city residents even after being served with an order of protection, Thursday. The woman had threatened harm to an entire family.
Out of it: An officer on patrol spotted a woman unconscious on steps in the 300 block of North Fifth Street, Thursday. Police tried unsuccessfully to awaken her and called for Steubenville firefighters, but before they revived her with a sternum rub. She told police she took a pill earlier in the day, but after answering all of their questions she told them she didn’t want to go to the hospital and went on her way.
Not there: Police checked an abandoned property in the 300 block of North Sixth Street after a resident told them several people were sleeping inside but didn’t find anyone, Thursday.
Noisy: A loud radio was reported in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue, Saturday. Police located the culprit, who turned his car radio down.
Served: Bryan C. Digman, 38, 423 N. 7th St., Steubenville, bench warrant, Sunday; Ashley Aguilera, 34, 5 Maplewood Dr., Apt. 7, Steubenville, warrant for petty theft, Sunday.

Opportunistic: A caller in the process of selling a deceased family member’s home on Powell’s Lane, Steubenville, said she checked her ring camera and saw neighbor’s parking and kids playing baseball in the yard, May 31. She said an adult was sitting on the porch so she “asked (them) politely” to leave but they refused. The uninvited guests eventually left but she said she could still see two cars parked on the property. Deputies checked the property and said the cars had all been moved and no windows had been broken by the baseball.
Didn’t fall for it: A Wintersville resident said someone tried to scam him after he and his wife posted a dog for sale with a $450 asking price, May 30. He said a man contacted them about buying the dog and sent them a $3,950 cashier’s check with instructions to keep the $450 and send him the change but, believing it’s a scam, they didn’t send the money. He said they were going to shred the check but deputies asked for a picture of it first.
Moving time: A Tiltonsville resident said he and his roommate had a disagreement and the roommate tried to assault him, May 31. Deputies spoke with both men and they agreed to separate for the night.
Ripped off: Laurel Hills Drive residents told deputies someone stole the windshield wiper motor from their truck, June 1.
A man living on state Route 213 said someone tried to break into his home, Sunday. Deputies said the screen on his living room window had been raised several inches and there were fingerprints and a palm print on the frame, but nothing was missing.
