Steubenville Police
Bounce back: A caller reported seeing a man lying in a doorway in the 500 block of Grandview Avenue with needles around him, Wednesday. Police checked the residence but didn’t find anyone there, though there were needles on the floor.
Threats: A city resident said a man was pounding on her back door, Tuesday. She told them the male was making threats that caused her to be fearful, but he was gone when police arrived.
Threatened: A city resident said her ex-boyfriend showed up at her residence uninvited, Tuesday. She said he knocked on the door and when she would answer, “began to state he was going to damage her vehicle.”
Threats: A city resident told police she’s been “messaging back and forth” with a man because he has been threatening her, Tuesday. She said he told her he “knows where she lives and has threatened to damage her property and vehicle.” Police observed some of the messages and advised the woman to block him.
Charged: A man ended up in police custody on a felony drug charge after he allegedly gave police false information during a traffic stop, Wednesday. Police said Richard N. Shebovsky, 59, 509 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, was booked into the county jail on charges of felony possession of drugs and falsification after a traffic stop in the 500 block of Logan Avenue. Shebovsky allegedly had 6.1 grams of a substance believed to be crack cocaine in his coat pocket when he was taken into custody, police said. They said he told them he misidentified himself because he feared there was a warrant for his arrest in Indiana.
Ruckus: Police were told a woman needed to be removed from a residence in the 100 block of Brondus Avenue, Tuesday. When police arrived, the woman had gathered her things and was leaving the property and they told her if she returned she’d be arrested for criminal trespass.
Charged: Willette F. Fordham, 51, 425 S. Fifth St., Steubenville, petit theft, Tuesday. Employees at Walmart alleged they’d watched Fordham place her thumb over a bar code and skip-scanning merchandise, but police said when they talked to Fordham she told them she had no intention of stealing merchandise and was distracted by a phone call. She also advised she has a medical condition which hinders her memory functions, they said.
Groggy: A man was sleeping in a downtown eating establishment, Tuesday. When police arrived, the owner told them the male woke up and ordered food and he could stay as long as he remained awake.
Scratch and dent: A resident in the 1400 block of Oregon Avenue reported a hit-and-run, Tuesday. Police said the owner discovered her rear window shattered, a large dent with a puncture in the body of her vehicle and more dents and scratching across the entire left side of the car.

Get away: A village resident reported family members of the man who allegedly fathered her unborn child are harassing her, Wednesday.
Nicotine fit: A woman said a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Wasbash Avenue had been entered, Wednesday. She told police she found her glove box and center console had been opened and the contents scattered, but the only things she found missing were two packs of cigarettes.
