Heed the warning: A man who had been warned multiple times to leave a property in Mount Pleasant was taken into custody when he was found inside a structure, April 17. Deputies said Gene Wise, 50, was charged with criminal trespass after a caller reported seeing a man inside the property who wasn’t supposed to be there. Wise claimed he had paperwork that allowed him to be there but when deputies checked it, they said it was actually a notice to vacate given him by a former owner in 2022 and pointed out to him the locks had been changed twice. They said Wise denied breaking in and said the door was already open when he returned to the property. The structure has no water or electrical service.
Relationship blues: A Toronto woman reported a disturbance involving her boyfriend, April 17. She said they were on their way home from a bar in Wintersville when he “began calling her insulting names,” deputies said. She said she tried getting him out of her car and when he wouldn’t leave, threw his phone out the window in hopes she could get away but he “jumped back in through the window” and wanted to go to her house. Once there she said he got in bed and wouldn’t leave, so she “tried to pull him out of the bed and he pushed her,” causing her to strike her head on the bedpost.
Prowler: A resident living on County Road 22A, Bloomingdale, said she saw “two suspicious people” on her family’s company property, April 16. When other family members went out to check they said the individual “took off running from the property toward the Harrison County line.” They said they’d check during daylight hours to be sure nothing was taken or damaged.
