Itchy finger: A motorist said someone pulling out of the midtown Speedway clipped the back of his car, then "flipped him off and continued...without stopping," Tuesday. Police said the rear passenger side wheel well of his car was damaged. Cameras at Speedway captured the incident as well as the man inside the store.
Fired up: Police were asked to check into someone burning a fire in the 200 block of Logan Street, Tuesday. Police said they located the individuals involved who claimed to have purchased the property for $3,000, but they checked the property details on the county tax site and learned the owner died in 2018 and the state apparently took the property over. The individuals were advised to put the fire out and clear the area, so they gathered their things and left.
Violent streak: A city resident said her live-in boyfriend "threatened her and grabbed her by the neck," Tuesday. She said he also threw her to the ground and told police she thinks he "may be having a mental break or taking drugs" and was up until 4 a.m. arguing with her the other day. She wants to pursue charges.
Night moves: A woman said she invited a male she doesn't know into her apartment in the 100 block of N. 4th Street sometime last week and after she woke up discovered him gone along with "numerous household and food items," Tuesday. She said she met the man "through a mutual friend" and had fallen asleep due to medication she takes.
Theft: An employee at a Market Street apartment complex reported the theft of a piece of art, Tuesday. She produced video of the thieves walking the item out the door
Something off: Police were told someone may have broken into an Oregon property, Tuesday. A woman told them she had a friend check the property the day before and believes someone broke into the basement door and broke a window that had recently been fixed. The door was secure, so police advised the woman to arrange for someone with a key to meet them there.
Stocking up: Two women suspected of stealing Crocs from Shoe Department Encore at the Fort Steuben Mall returned the next day and a pink Steve Madden purse disappeared, Tuesday. Employees were advised they have a right to refuse the women service if they return or they can call police.

Cat fight: A Tiltonsville caller reported an argument with a female then hung up, Tuesday, Deputies said he told them the female "is drunk and started arguing with him for no reason." He said they'd been enjoying each other's company when she "packed her bag after screaming at him" and had probably gone to a friend's apartment for the night. Deputies located the woman, who advised he got mad at her because their cat jumped on the bed. She said they'd both been drinking and when he started yelling at the cat and she started yelling at him for getting mad about the cat. Both of them said the argument was strictly verbal.
Shady business: A Steubenville man said he'd rented a deceased family member's home in another community to a couple who were supposed to put the electric in their own name but didn't, Monday. He said he received an $1,800 bill for the unpaid electric and the couple is refusing to pay. Deputies told them it's a civil issue and he'd have to file something with the court to get the money back, but they put the complaint on record.
Let it out: A man assigned to change an electric meter at an Adena area residence said the homeowner was "shouting profanities" when he found him there, Tuesday. He said the homeowner wasn't there when he arrived so he changed the meter and when he was done saw the homeowner "driving rapidly toward him" and blocked him in. He said the man admitted blocking the employee in due to being "distressed about the new meters" and when he finally walked away, the worker got in his truck and called deputies. The homeowner said he "thought he opted out (of the meter replacement) and was upset AEP was on his property without him knowing," He apologized.
Rammed: Callers reported a semi ran into a building in Mingo Junction, Tuesday. Deputies said the truck driver told them he lost his brakes and rammed the building, which was unoccupied. No further details were available.
Fraud: A Toronto man told deputies he discovered a fraudulent $733 charge on his debit card, Tuesday. Also, a Richmond man reported receiving a bank card he didn't request, Tuesday. When he looked into it, he said bank officials told him someone had opened an account in his name.
Found: A backhoe missing from a worksite in the Unionville area was found, Tuesday. An employee said it was found about five miles from the worksite and was still on the powerline's right of way and was not damaged. He told deputies he figures one of the contracting companies moved it despite denying being responsible.
