Weeded out: A Wintersville woman said she was arguing with her live-in boyfriend about marihuana when he “started screaming at her and dropped weed all over the ground,” Friday. She said when she slapped him, he pushed her to the ground. She said her sister witnessed the altercation “but would not take her side” and she’d only recently learned she was pregnant and “is tired of (him.)” She had no injuries. Another deputy interviewed the male but that report is not yet available.

Break-ins: An Irondale woman told deputies two of her rental properties had been broken into, Feb. 25. The owner said a neighbor saw a woman climbing through the rear window of one of the properties and believes it was a woman who lived with her son until he moved out. The owner said $2,050 in cash was stolen along with a necklace. She wants the woman trespassed from her properties.

Drugs: A domestic with “screaming in the background” was reported at a Richmond area residence, but deputies were told there was no problem. They said an individual was “tweaking on methamphetamine” and a family member wanted to take the individual to rehab.

Chase: A police pursuit that began in Carroll County was headed toward Bergholz when the driver crashed into a yard on county Road 75A, Friday. The driver was in custody when Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers advised they would handle the accident report. No further details were reported.

Hullaballoo: Deputies investigating a report of “arguing and fighting” on the second floor of a building in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue were yelled at by a woman who was upset when they knocked on her door at 3 a.m. to make sure all was well, Sunday. The caller provided the name of a participant, but when deputies tried to talk to her, she denied anything happening at her apartment, then claimed she saw a man trying to stab a female companion on the first floor so she tried to stop him. When a woman answered the door to the apartment she claimed was involved, deputies said she was “very upset with (deputies) knocking on her door due to her child sleeping” and “continued to yell and be upset” even after they explained why they had to ask. They eventually were able to check on the condition of children in both apartments.

Domestic: Police filed charges on behalf of a Lovers Lane resident whose ex allegedly attempted to force entry into her home, Sunday. Elijah Rose, 21, 14 Paul Ave., Wintersville, was booked into the county jail on a domestic violence charge. Police said the woman told them Rose came to her home without permission “and attempted to force the front door open.” She said her front window was “completely shattered” and admitted it’s not the first time things have gotten out of control, deputies said. She wasn’t sure she wanted to file charges and police noted she “appeared to be shaken up” from the incident so they intervened. Several family members arrived and complained to police that Rose also had been “harassing them and making statements they took as threats.”

Phone grabbed: A city resident reported a family friend stole her iPhone 11 while she was babysitting her daughter, Sunday. She said she began receiving notifications on her primary phone that someone was attempting to gain access to the device, including the name of the individual who was trying to access it. She told police she confronted the individual “and was ultimately told that (she) located the device in the elevator and was unaware that it belonged to (her).” She said she went to the babysitter’s home to retrieve it but she didn’t give it back until Toronto Police responded. She said the lock screen and home screen both had pictures of the daughter for whom the suspect babysits.

Pushy: A Woodlawn Avenue resident complained individuals claiming to work for a utility discount company were soliciting, Sunday. The caller described them as “relentless” and said she agreed to their proposal “just to get them to leave.” Police located two individuals who “were actively knocking on a door” and had no solicitation permit. They were advised to halt sales activities until they obtained the required permit. Police said the caller was “in contact with the company, voicing her concerns.”

Door-to-door complaints: A Portland Boulevard complained of a man going door-to-door trying to convince them to switch their gas provider, Sunday. She was issued a drug treatment form before being transported by Steubenville EMS for further treatment.

It’s over: A man who no longer lives in Ohio told police his ex won’t stop contacting him, Sunday. He asked police to tell her he doesn’t want her to call or text.
