Steubenville Police

Thirst quencher: An Oakmont Avenue man said a man was causing a disturbance at his residence, Friday. His girlfriend told police her father “drank all of her cat’s antibiotic,” sparking an argument between him and her boyfriend. She said it never escalated to physical violence and she was going to look into having her father formally evicted “due to his behavior.” Her father denied downing the cat’s medicine and claimed his daughter’s boyfriend “got aggressive with him and shoved him,” though several witnesses advised that never happened. The girlfriend’s father told police he would leave for the night but minutes later he was back. His daughter said she had no where else to stay “due to this being her residence that her father is living in.” She said she and her boyfriend would run errands to stay out of the house for a few hours, and police told her father “not to call … when she returns because (she) lives at the residence and is on the lease” and her boyfriend can also be there if she wants him.

Strained relations: A woman involved in a disturbance in the 100 block of Wildon Avenue said she and her boyfriend were “arguing about their relationship” and she slapped him so he pushed her away, Saturday. The dispute resumed after she “observed (him) creating an online dating profile,” causing someone else in the residence to contact 9-1-1. She said her boyfriend left the residence when he realized police were on the way and wanted them to remove him if he came back, but police pointed out that since he’s on the deed he can came and go as he pleases.

Piling on: Police report a woman allegedly “ate a bag” containing what appeared to be a white substance when she realized she was going to be arrested, Saturday. Police reported the female, Samantha Cremeans, no fixed address, later fled the hospital despite having been told she would be charged with escape if she did. Cremeans had originally been wanted for failure to appear for a probation violation, they said.

Kid unfriendly: A caller reported a juvenile problem in the 500 block of Union Avenue, Friday. One of the kids involved told police there’d been a problem with two juvenile girls at Murphy Park, one of whom was throwing rocks at him and the other threatened to shoot his house with airsoft guns. Police took him home, updating his parents before advising him to stay away from the girls, then spoke with the girls who said the boy had been bullying them.

Shake, rattle and roll: An Oregon Avenue resident complained her neighbors “were yelling so much that they were shaking her apartment walls,” Saturday.” Police were unable to make contact with the noisy neighbors.

False alarm: Someone reported a woman was being held in a Sout Fifth Street residence against her will, Saturday. Police spoke with the woman, who told them she was fine and did not need their assistance.

Risky business: Police spotted a male riding a bicycle in the roadway on Market Street near Fourth Street, Saturday. Police said the bike had no rear reflector and the rider was dressed all in black, so they pulled him over and told him he needs an illuminated lamp/light on the front if he wants to ride in the street at night. He also was warned he cannot ride the bicycle on the sidewalk in the business district.

Dispute: A couple in the 200 block of South Fourth Street was arguing, Saturday. They told police they were “fighting over money.”

Snatched: A Lovers Lane resident said she was shopping at the mall and noticed her leopard-colored clutch purse was missing, Saturday. She said before the theft she noticed a man with dark hair “seemed to be her around the store.” The purse contained multiple bank cards, her ID and less than $40 in cash, she said.

Red means stop: A driver who made a right turn onto Mall Drive from the center lane “while the traffic signal displayed a red arrow and a clearly marked ‘no turn on red’ sign” was warned about the violation, Sunday.

Reported: A resident who has an order of protection against another woman said she’ continued to call, in violation of the court order, Friday.

Booked: Elizabeth M. Ely, 40, 1510 Maryland Ave., Steubenville, probation violation, Sunday.
