Steubenville Police

No name: A woman who flagged police down in the 700 block of North Seventh Street told police she and a male she’d been staying with “got into a physical altercation over $100,” Saturday. She told police she gets $100 at the start of every month and the man wouldn’t let her have it. She only knew him by his first name, but she was able to tell them his apartment number. She claimed he “choked her and hit her in the nose,” but police said there were no visible injuries to her neck though they did see a small scratch on the top of her nose.

Drugs charged: A city resident ended up in custody on drug charges after a caller claimed she was trying to break into a building at 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Saturday. Police said Jamie Bing, 40, told them she lives at the residence and produced a key to the door but said something was blocking it from opening and figures her husband “purposely blocked the door to (keep) her from entering.” They said they couldn’t reach the caller “or any individuals inside” the structure, but they found out there was a warrant out of Jefferson County Common Pleas Court for Bing’s arrest. She also was charged with two counts of possessing drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance as well as failure to appear after police allegedly found a crack pipe, a white rock-like substance believed to be cocaine, a blue pill believed to be ecstasy, and a blue powder-like substance believed to be fentanyl.

Push-pull: A woman in the 600 block of Grandview Avenue reported she and her husband had been pulling a chair in different directions several weeks ago and he let go, causing her to lose her balance fall, Sunday. The male told police he wasn’t trying to make her fall.

Booked: Zachary R. Moore, 37, 125 Ravine St., Mingo Junction, bench warrant, Sunday. Police took Moore into custody after he was seen sleeping in a tent in the 100 block of North Sixth Street. Police said Steubenville Municipal Court issued the warrant after Brown failed to appear for arraignment.

Long way home: A caller reported a woman walking along state Route 7 southbound, Saturday. The woman said she’d been released from care and had no means of transportation to Martins Ferry, so police drove her to Yorkville. A Martins Ferry police officer took her the rest of the way home.

Dog runner: A Kendall Avenue resident previously warned for allowing her dog to run loose was issued a summons after they saw it running loose and a neighbor showed them a video of the dog defecating in his backyard, Saturday. Police said Juana N. Rodriguez, 57, 711 Kendall Avenue, had been warned “multiple times” about her dog being loose so they issued her a summons for dog at large.

Disappeared: Police were asked to look into an alleged assault on a woman in the 800 block of North Sixth Street, Saturday. She wasn’t on the property when police arrived but police said a male told them “She’d been assaulted outside of the building by another female.” He said the fight continued into the building and the victim was chased into his apartment.

Vape fight: A caller reported hearing “screaming and yelling” coming from a home in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue, Saturday. Police said two women at the location had been arguing because one of them believed the other’s pre-teen daughter had stolen her vape.
