Lock out: A Yorkville resident said he returned home to find his girlfriend had change the locks while he was away, Tuesday. He said he left because the two of them had been involved in a dispute and he’d stayed away from the residence to let things calm down. He said he’d lived there about eight months and helped pay the bills. Because he had established residency and had not been evicted, he was permitted to enter the residence through a window. Deputies said the woman returned home while the man was in the residence and was “very upset” he was there. They advised she would have to evict him and couldn’t just lock him out. They were advised to avoid each other until he is evicted or the male saves enough to move out.

They said the vehicle was still in drive and the front tires were spinning, causing the rubber to burn and smell. Bystanders said the male driver tried to drive away but ended up “getting out and falling over multiple times,” deputies reported. Deputies said they spoke with the driver later and said he told them a family member had driven him to Wellsburg.

The most recent ex said he was “calling her all kinds of profanities” and said he was “very drunk” and has been known to follow her when she leaves to go back to her own home. She said she’d tried to get a protection order against him but didn’t have an address for him so there was a delay. They told her offensive as it was, what he’d yelled at her was protected speech and followed her to another residence to ensure she got there safely.

When police told him he needed to leave he made arrangements to move in with another family member.
