Ignored warning: A city resident ended up being held without bond after she allegedly returned to a Lawson Avenue property twice after being warned she wasn’t welcome there, Tuesday. Emily Wilson, 43, 468 Kendall Avenue, was charged with trespassing after she returned to a Union Avenue location about 30 minutes after she’d been told the homeowners don’t want her on their property, police said.

The first time police responded they said Wilson “initially refused to leave and stated that we would have to take her to jail,” but eventually agreed to go. She declined an opportunity to grab her belongings and insisted on leaving barefoot, police said. The homeowners reported Wilson returned to the property a half-hour later and when police arrived, she was charged with trespassing and transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where she was released on her own recognizance. Nearly five hours later police had to return to the property again, this time because Wilson was allegedly “causing a disturbance by walking through yards while yelling” and one caller claimed she’d “tried to steal a grill on Lawson Avenue.”

Police said when they found Wilson in the front yard of the residence from which she’d been trespassed earlier she told them she’d come back for her belongings, despite a court order issued earlier in the day prohibiting her from contact with the residents. Later, a Lawson Avenue resident gave police footage of Wilson allegedly ripping a screen out of a woman’s front window, throwing a chair off her porch and dragging her grill through the backyard, yelling all the while. A mailbox also was damaged, police said. Police said that third interaction resulted in Wilson being charged with contempt of court and criminal mischief.

Chased: A motorist left his car in drive and fled on foot after police tried to pull him over for a speeding violation, Wednesday. Police said they’d paced the vehicle traveling at 70 miles per hour before they tried to pull the driver over on North Seventh Street. They said the driver ran several stop signs and reached speeds of 45 to 55 mph on downtown streets before exiting the car in the 800 block of North Fifth Street with it still in gear. The officer had begun a foot pursuit when he saw the man’s vehicle “about to crash” into another vehicle and stopped to put the vehicle into park and lost sight of him. Police said the temporary registration displayed on the vehicle was expired and determined that the registered owner was the driver who had fled. The vehicle was impounded.

Driver cited, passenger jailed: A city resident was booked into the county jail after police spotted her in a car on Washington Street and realized there was a warrant out for her arrest, Tuesday. Samantha Welsh, 29, 416 Madison Ave., was charged with a parole violation, police said. The driver, Bryan Akins, 56, also of 416 Madison Ave., was cited for driving under suspension and fictitious plates. Police allege there was an invalid dealer plate on the car but said Akins produced a temporary registration that expired in December and after running the VIN determined the vehicle is registered to a Burgettstown man.

Charged: A city resident was taken into custody after employees at Wal-Mart told police she tried to leave the store without paying for nearly $252 in merchandise, Tuesday. Ashley Aguilera, 34, 5 Maplewood Drive, Steubenville, was charged with theft and trespassed from the store, police said.

Reported: An Arden Avenue resident told police he walked two juveniles home and spoke to their parents after seeing them “in his back yard breaking light bulbs,” Tuesday.

Stolen merchandise: Police said they recovered nearly $118 worth of tools stolen from Lowe’s, Tuesday. They report the items were discovered while they were investigating another offense.

Served: Corey J. Lyons Sr., 61, Wildon Avenue, contempt of court, Tuesday; Shoffon Scipio, 54, 1432 Oak Grove Ave, Apt. 2, bench warrant (failure to appear), Wednesday. Scipio also was cited for driving under suspension, police said.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Wild ride: An unidentified female is facing multiple charges after she allegedly tried to flee a sheriff’s deputy who tried to pull her over on Sunset Boulevard near Domino’s Pizza for a marked lane violation and reckless driving, Wednesday.

Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. said the driver of the vehicle “refused to stop (and) a pursuit ensued.” He said the driver “made an illegal U-turn near General Rental and continued in the direction of Lovers Lane, where she made another u-turn, almost striking a sheriff’s deputy in his cruiser.” The driver continued to John Scott Highway, running a red light and crashing into another vehicle in the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and John Scott Highway, he said.

“The driver of the vehicle who tried to evade law enforcement as well as the individual who was struck at the intersection were both transported to the hospital,” Abdalla said. “Thankfully, everyone is OK with minor injuries.”

He said the driver is facing felony charges of failure to comply and aggravated vehicular assault, and misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle under the influence (multiple drugs), reckless driving and four red light violations.

Sour grapes: A Pittsburgh man who bought a dirt bike a Jefferson County woman had listed for sale on Facebook marketplace wants his money back and threatened to burn the seller’s house down around her and her family, Tuesday. The seller told deputies it was in working order when he took possession of it but has started texting her that it blew up and he wanted his money back. He’d picked it up at her residence and she told deputies he’d said if she didn’t give him the money “he would burn down her house, killing her and her (family).”

Violence: A Yorkville employee told deputies a woman showed up at the village building “crying and upset” and asking for police, Tuesday. She told deputies her live-in boyfriend “choked me and beat (me)” again after they argued about him giving her the keys so she could get their child to school on time. She said he didn’t want to get up, and when she told him to hurry he threw a beverage on her then “shoved her and put her in a chokehold.” He claimed she’d screamed for him to give her the keys but he didn’t want her driving because her license had been suspended. He claimed she grabbed the keys from him and when he reminded her about her license she “threw them at him, skimming his face.” He also claimed she punched his face and denied putting her in a chokehold. Neither of them had visible injuries. Deputies said due to their conflicting stories, lack of injuries and no witnesses, neither party could be charged.
