Steubenville Police

Spreading joy: A man in the 3300 block of Sunset Boulevard needed police help to get out of his apartment, Sunday. He said a female there “wasn’t letting him leave the residence to go to rehab.” She left before officers arrived, but he told them she had a knife on her when she fled. The same woman turned up a couple of hours later in the 1200 block of Lawson Avenue at the home of family members who told police the woman “is currently a frequent user of illegal (drugs)” and she is not comfortable with that type of activity around her home or near younger family members. Police located the younger woman at a downtown gas station and informed her she is not to return to the property. Nearly seven hours later, police said a female at the residence in the 3300 block of Sunset Boulevard wanted police to remove the other woman from the property. The caller said the woman “arrived back (that night) wanting her clothes that she had stored in the basement,” but told police she didn’t want her there. She allowed the woman to retrieve her belongings with a police escort, and after she’d grabbed what she wanted was told she wasn’t to return.

Hit and ran: A woman reported being assaulted by another woman in the 400 block of North Seventh Street, Sunday. She said she was with friends when the other woman walked up and started taking pictures of the car, she and her friends were in. When she approached the picture-taker, she said the female struck her then grabbed her phone and threw it. The picture taker ran into a home in the 400 block and one of her friends went to the house “try and make contact” and ended up in an argument with a male who lived there. The female picture taker was not located “and all parties were separated,” police said. The victim was able to take a picture of her alleged assailant, they said.

Ooopsie: A man in the 900 block of Oxford Avenue said he was parking his car when “his foot slipped and hit the gas” and he struck a parked car, Sunday. Police said the impact left a large dent “that covered the rear” of the parked car.
