Steubenville Police

Meth problem: A woman at a residence in the 400 block of South Fifth Street thought she was poisoned, Tuesday. The woman said she was in the residence and “a couple of males, unknown to her, gave her a drink and she (believed) there was poison in it and now her stomach and throat hurt.” Police called for an ambulance, noting the woman’s pupils were dilated and she was unable to sit still and started hallucinating, all signs of methamphetamine use. She went to the hospital willingly.

Stupid stuff: Juveniles were involved in a fight near the basketball court during a North End festival, Saturday. Police were told the mother of one of the juveniles jumped on a juvenile while her children kicked and punched the girl on the ground.

Splashy entrance: Police said a female fell in the river at the Steubenville Marina and was struggling to swim, Monday. Steubenville firefighters pulled her to safety. She denied needing medical attention.

Wobbly ride: A female bicyclist said she was in the 600 block of Ross Street when her handlebars began to wobble and she struck a vehicle, Monday. Police said the vehicle had minor damage to the rear fender on the driver’s side, while the bicyclist was alert but bleeding from the back of her head. Steubenville EMS took her to the hospital.

Backing down: A motorist told police he was southbound on Rosemont Avenue when he saw a man backing a lawn tractor off a trailer, Monday. The motorist said he thought the guy on the mower was going to stop but it kept backing, causing him to swerve. He said his vehicle was struck by the lawn tractor, whose operator said he saw the vehicle swerve to the right and strike his mower.

Fisticuffs: A woman ended up in police custody after a disturbance was reported at her home, Monday. Police charged Dawn Hutchison, 58, 2101 Myers Ave., with domestic violence after the male involved said he wanted to pursue charges due to his injuries. Police said Hutchison told them she’d been struck in her face and had some of her hair pulled out but did not wish to pursue charges. The original caller had advised Hutchison was “possibly intoxicated.”

Trespassing: Someone called in a domestic disturbance inside an abandoned building in the alley behind a building in the 200 block of North Fifth Street, Monday. Police located a female inside the building who denied being involved in a domestic dispute or squatting in the property and told them her husband had walked to Speedway. Police told her she needed to leave the building.

Money matters: A Buena Vista resident said he noticed nearly $76 missing from his bank account, Monday. He said when he checked with the bank he was told an electronic check had been paid from his account.

Complaint: A caller complained of males soliciting door-to-door sales in the 2600 block of Alvarado Boulevard, Monday. Police checked the area and didn’t locate them.

Stolen: A homeowner said someone stole a potted plant from her back yard, Monday.

Booked: Dustin Mussog, 29, 817 Market St., Apt. H, Steubenville, failure to appear warrant out of Delaware on a burglary charge, Monday; Ashlei Crowe, 33, also of 817 Market St., Apt. H, warrant, Monday; Holly McCartney, 28, no fixed address, failure to appear, Monday. Police said they spotted McCartney walking on the Lawson Avenue overpass and covering her face. She was found hiding in the brush; John Yoders, 45, 618 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear warrant out of Steubenville Municipal Court for falsification, July 29. Yoders pleaded no contest and was fined $500 plus costs;

Code issue: Notice of violation was set to the owner/occupant of a property at 2541 Chestnut St., a commercial metal sprayer/mixer laying in the front yard and high weeds.

Cited: Alyse Ciardelli, 36, Bellaire, stop sign violation; Abigail A. Gordon, 30. 431 Henry Ave., Steubenville, driving under suspension and red light violation.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Crazy: Deputies said a crash in the 100 block of Lawrence Street, Bellaire, led to a fight between the driver “and other parties present at the scene” and a neighbor not directly involved in the fight fired a gun, Tuesday. One of the drivers involved in the fight was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Cited: Crystal S. Cronin, 1330 township Road 62, Hammondsville, driving under suspension and turn signal violation.
