Steubenville Police
Charged: Police investigating a disturbance in the 600 block of North Fifth Street said they could hear the couple inside arguing and said “it sounded like items were being thrown,” Friday. No one came to the door so, citing exigent circumstances, police entered through the unlocked front door. Once inside, police allege they could “hear a male screaming and observed a cell phone being thrown to the top of the stairs” and when they entered the bedroom they reported seeing the man with “what appeared to be some kind of pipe getting ready to strike the female involved.” They claim they had to tell him twice to drop the weapon and that the first time “he got to his feet … with the weapon still in hand facing (officers)” only dropping it when he was warned a second time. As they got the female out of the residence police allegedly spotted a “baggie full of a white substance” believed to be methamphetamine and claimed the man confirmed it was “ice” and that “he’d snorted a line about 10 minutes prior” to their arrival. The female had redness on her back but told them she did not want to file charges against him, but police charged Andrew Krivenko, 61, 637 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, with possession of drugs.
Hard break: A woman in the 1400 block of Oregon Avenue said her boyfriend was ignoring her suggestions that he should leave, Friday. She said she’s tried to tell him they were done but he wasn’t having any of it, and when she asked him to leave that day, she claimed he told her “come talk to me about it” and when she didn’t, told her “if you don’t come talk to me you’re going to see a side of me you’ve never seen.” She told police he’d been staying at her place “on and off” but did not live there, and when they spoke with him he confirmed he didn’t live with her and agreed to leave.
Into custody: An area resident was taken into custody after allegedly telling police attempting a traffic stop on Lincoln at Prospect avenues that he “knew his rights” and refused to exit his vehicle, Saturday. Police said Cody Dennis, 36, 5368 State Route 43, was booked into the county jail on a charge of assaulting a police officer after he allegedly shoved a police officer. Dennis also was cited for obstruction and no registration light.
Charged: A man released from jail less than two weeks ago was taken into custody after he allegedly was found at a residence where he’d been forbidden to be, Saturday. Police charged Leland Harris, 40, 613 Pine St., Apt. A, with contempt of court after his wife told them she wanted him out of her residence. Harris had claimed his wife had told him she dropped her protection order and invited him to move back in with her.
Not that lonely: A North Fifth Street resident told police she’s being harassed by a man she met on an online dating site, Saturday. She said the man told her his name was “Josh” and began “threatening her via text message and voicemail” after she refused to drive three hours to see him in person. Police advised her to block his number on all her accounts.
Hoo-rah: A man in the 4300 block of Steuben Woods told police he was being harassed, Saturday. He told police he was washing a car at his mother’s house when a neighbor saw him and walked to the sidewalk in front of him and yelled that “this would be his last hoorah!” The neighbor told police the car washer doesn’t live there and “he believes that he is running a car wash service from his mother’s house,” which would be a violation of the neighborhood’s Homeowners Association rules. Both were advised to stay away from each other and told that HOA violations are not a police matter.
Steer clear: A Wellesley Avenue couple was fighting and the female wanted her live-in boyfriend to leave, Saturday. She told police they’d been living together for about 11 months and had argued, though it didn’t turn physical and neither of them threatened violence. She wanted him to leave but he told police he didn’t want to though he did agree to avoid her.
Reported: Police were told juveniles on bicycles were throwing rocks at houses in the 600 block of Prospect Avenue, Saturday. They checked the area for them with no luck.
Slap happy: A woman in the 100 block of North Fourth Street said a woman she knows only as “Carrie” attempted to slap a drink out of her hand on Washington Street, Saturday. She wants to pursue charge, but police noted she had no visible injuries.
Charged: Miranda Martin, 40, 224 North St., Steubenville, violation of a protection order, Saturday. Police said they located Martin in an apartment in the 400 block of Railroad Avenue next door to the home of a woman who got a protection order against her. They said Martin was ordered to stay at least 500 feet away from the other woman.
