Happy ending: A McConnell Avenue resident said she left her wallet in a shopping cart in the Kroger parking lot, Tuesday. She told police when she realized her mistake and went back to get it the wallet was gone, and it hadn't been turned in at the service desk. Not long after reporting it missing, she called officers to report whoever found it had "returned the wallet with all of its contents" to her residence.
Suspicious minds: A disturbance was reported in the 300 block of Terrace Avenue, and police said when they arrived, they could hear screaming and spotted shattered glass all over the front porch, Tuesday. They said the female inside the residence was "too intoxicated to make sense" but a juvenile who was present had "a hole in her right calf and blood running down her leg." An officer applied pressure gauze and wrapped it until Steubenville EMS could transport her to the hospital for treatment. Police said after the older woman calmed down, she told them she thinks her husband is having an affair with a woman down the street, and when she got upset so did the juvenile, who kicked a window and shattered the glass. All involved were advised to stay away from each other.
Break up blues: A woman living in a residence owned by her ex-boyfriend complained to police he had violated a protection order, Monday. She told police the order is active but said her ex took the paperwork so she couldn't show it to them. She also told police she thinks he's been coming in and out of the house, claimed he's hidden cameras inside the residence and complained his son "continues to come in and out of the house and records her with his cell phone." The son was not included in the order of protection and his father pointed out he's legally allowed to be there. He also denied wrongdoing and told police that after dating and living with her for a decade "he knows when she is clean and when she's using drugs" and believes she is using again. He also said she's approached him "and apologized and stated ultimately she wants her phone bill paid." Police said there was no evidence that the protection order had been violated. He was advised to "evict (her) and stay away from her."
Caught in the act: An Arlington Avenue resident caught juveniles breaking his windshield with a masonry brick, Tuesday. He told police he spoke with each of the kids involved in the incident and took them to their homes on Oak Grove Avenue where he spoke with their parents, who agreed to pay for the damage. He said he was agreeable to that but still wanted a report on file should there be a problem.
Miffed: A disturbance on Henry Avenue turned out to be a couple engaged in a marital dispute, Tuesday. The female said she was gone for several days and when she returned home her husband would not allow her to go back in their home. He told police the same thing and refused to open the door to even speak with officers." She agreed to stay with family until things between them calmed down.
Not a fan: A downtown resident is upset about chalk art in front of her home, but police told they can't stop kids in the area from walking or drawing on a public sidewalk.
Shoplifter: Wal-Mart employees told police an individual fled the store with a shopping cart full of groceries that hadn't been paid for and loaded them into a red pickup, Tuesday.
Reported: A Westwood Drive resident thought someone "had knocked or attempted to open her front door," then left the area, Tuesday. Police checked the exterior of the residence and area but found no one.
Lawn shopping: A resident in the 200 block of Bryden Road said lawn ornamaents had been stolen from her backyard, Tuesday.
Pilfered: A resident in the 700 block of Dock Street reported the theft of some clothing and a cell phone, Tuesday.
Charged: A city resident ended up in police custody after a traffic stop on Seventh at North streets, Tuesday. Police said the driver, identified as Derrick Fletcher, 53, 908 Oakland Way, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and put on an eight-hour intoxication hold after he allegedly unsteady on his feet, slurring his words and was unable to complete field sobriety testing. They report he admitted being at a downtown club before getting behind the wheel.
Thought it was gone: Employees at Wal-Mart were concerned after a customer left store property on their motorized scooter, Tuesday. They found it before officers arrived.
Buddy punch: A North Sixth Street resident told police he was drinking with friends during the weekend when he was "punched on the left side of his face," Monday. He claimed the individual told him he punched him because he'd bumped him, police said. He said he thought it happened during the afternoon but couldn't provide details other than a description and a street name.
Miscreants: Callers reported seeing two or three juveniles dressed all in back shooting BBs at a stop sign on Maryland Avenue at Pittsburgh Street, Monday. Police talked to some individuals walking in the roadway who said they didn't have a BB gun and weren't sure who shot the sign.
Wanted her gone: A Pembroke Road resident said he and his girlfriend had been arguing and he asked her to leave but she refused, Monday. When police arrived, she left.
Cited: Elizabeth A. Ohalek, 66, 413 Nebo Drive, failure to control and expired plates after her car struck a concrete median Monday on state Route 7 at Franklin Avenue. She told police another driver drifted into her lane, so she swerved, hitting the median.
Stolen: A Ridge Avenue resident said her lawnmower was stolen from her backyard, Tuesday.
Charged: Darren Hawkins, 18, 1317 Maryland Ave., Steubenville, misdemeanor theft, Tuesday.
Causing problems: Neighbors said residents at a Pine Street residence were causing a disturbance, Monday. A female told police she was arguing with her boyfriend and said they would keep the noise down.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1249 Oregon Ave., 506 Woodlawn Road, 1342 Oregon Ave., 767 Woodlawn Road,

A Mingo Junction man told deputies he'd been threatened by a man who thinks he slept with his girlfriend, Tuesday. He said the man had since apologized, telling him he was "just upset and trying to figure out who it was." The Mingo Junction man told police he's afraid the man still might do something to him when he's not expecting it. He said he barely knew the woman and they didn't talk much. They won't be talking at all because the Mingo Junction man said he was going to block her and her boyfriend.
