Booked: A woman in the 100 block of North Fourth Street was "slumped over (and) semi-responsive" when police responded to her 9-1-1 call, Monday. They were unable to communicate with the woman, who they reported smelled of alcohol. She was taken to Trinity West, where personnel later reported she became "combative ... and caused a disturbance." They said she told them her presence there was "an experiment" and "nothing was actually wrong with her" but she wanted to see how someone with mental health issues would be treated. They said she began "yelling obscenities as well as yelling that there was nothing wrong with her," then threatened to kill a nurse. When police talked to the woman, she told them several times the events of the evening were "her experiment to see how (police, firefighters and the hospital) handled (the situation)" before proclaiming they'd all failed. Police said she reeked of alcohol and was "agitated and slurring her words" and insisted she didn't need medical treatment but wanted police to give her a ride to a bar downtown. Once she was discharged, police said Patricia L.C. Hayes, 34, no fixed address, was booked into jail on a 12-hour intoxication hold and cited for disorderly conduct, with an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia after two glass pipes were found in her backpack during booking.
Bad decisions: Callers reported a man "acting strangely" in a back yard in the 3100 block of Johnson Road, Monday. Police said when they found him, the man was talking to himself and "appeared under the influence of narcotics or coming down form narcotics" and was wearing a hospital wrist band. He told police he'd overdosed earlier outside a midtown business and was taken to the hospital but ended up checking himself out "and was trying to walk home." He refused medical treatment, and after confirming the information with hospital personnel they drove him to his residence, but a few hours later were notified a man was "staggering around" in the 2600 block of Hollywood Boulevard and found the same man behind a residence, this time "missing both shoes and flailing his arms and legs around as he attempted to keep his balance." Police said his condition "appeared to have worsened and (he) could not remain conscious more than a few moments at a time," but he told them he was trying to get back to the midtown location where he'd overdosed earlier. They said he was unable to walk or function properly, police believed him to be at risk and unable to make medical decisions for himself so they sat him in the cruiser to wait for an ambulance, and while they waited said he lost consciousness "and began snoring, as if experiencing a drug overdose." Police were able to revive him and sent him back to the hospital.
Bedlam: Three women at Heritage Place, Market Street, were arguing about a hit-and-run, Monday. One of the women had reported finding her front fender damaged and pointed out a vehicle with red paint on the front bumper that could have been responsible, but police said it was unlikely because the paint transfer was on the bottom half of the car's front bumper and the damage to the caller's car was on the side and top of the fender. Five minutes later, police had to separate the three women because the they were causing a disturbance on the second floor. A woman said she'd knocked on the car owner's door to discuss it when the third woman "opened her door and began to argue with (her)" as well, then all three of them were going at it. The car owner said the other woman had "knocked on her door and began to yell about being accused of hitting (her car)." Police told them to go their separate way.
Grow up: A Maryland Avenue resident told police "a kid threw a pine cone, striking her in the head," Monday. She said another woman "had started yelling at her and her kids for no reason." Police advised the other woman to "refrain from speaking with her."
Walk away: A McDowell Avenue resident told police his fiancé broke his security cameras "and was sending texts stating she was going to destroy the house and burn it down," Monday.
