Steubenville Police
Arrested: Police filed charges against a city resident who allegedly choked a female, scratched her nose and spit in her face, Monday. Joshua Gooch, 37, 1308 Oregon Ave., Steubenville, was charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest, police said, reporting they'd been called to his residence earlier in the day and he'd admitted there'd been an altercation, but claimed the woman hit him with a hammer "but he was OK and not interested in pursuing charges." At that time, the female said she was fine and wanted them to leave, and police said neither of them had injuries that matched up to their accounts of what had happened. A few minutes later she requested police assistance a second time, and police said when they arrived they saw red marks on her neck and a cut on her nose that was bleeding. They said the female changed her mind about filing charges when he allegedly tried to pull away from police, screaming that she no longer wanted to "because when he gets out, it will be worse," so they filed the charges.
Charged: Police said a possible overdose reported in the 1000 block of North Sixth Street turned out to be a woman who was "visibly intoxicated and had a bottle of vodka on her person" and was unable to walk or stand, Monday. When Steubenville firefighters decided to transport her to the hospital, they allege she grabbed the vodka bottle "and attempted to finish" it. Police said when they tried to take the bottle from her "she ... began to wrestle with (them) and EMTs, causing (it) to come open and spill" on them, and when they put her on the cot she "began to punch, kick and (try) to bite" them. Karrie O'Connell, 54, 408 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated, police said.
Reported: Someone said they heard a shot fired in the 200 block of South Seventh Street and saw a man running down the alley behind the Head Start building, Monday. Police said searched the area thoroughly and didn't locate any shell casings, nor were they able to locate the man who'd been running.
Lucky find: A caller reported an intoxicated male walking in the road on Wilkins Street at Maryland Avenue, Monday. When police arrived they found the man face down on the side of the street and said he was "breathing but unresponsive." Police said the man's pupils were pinpoints so they administered Naloxone, to which he had a slight reaction, and when EMS arrived, he was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
Strange noises: A Central Avenue resident reported hearing noises inside her garage area, ductwork and a storage area near the garage," Monday. Police said they were unable to find anyone people or animals on the property.
Conflicting stories: A physical altercation between a male and female was reported on South Sixth Street, Monday. The couple involved insisted it was strictly verbal.
Cat nap: A caller reported a woman asleep in a vehicle in the 100 block of North Fifth St., Monday. Police said she woke up as soon as they opened the car door and she was coherent and able to answer all questions. She said she was on her phone and must have dozed off."
Drugs: Police said a woman who apparently overdosed at a location in the 100 block of South Ninth Street told them she'd "snorted what she thought was heroin," Monday. Police said Steubenville firefighters revived her with Narcan.
Booked: Whitney N. Lawson, 41, South Fourth Street, Steubenville, bench warrant, Monday; and Alexis Freeman, 42, 109 S. Third St., Steubenville, drug abuse and a probation violation, also served with a warrant out of Wintersville County Court, Monday.
Code issues: A notice of violation was sent to the owner/occupant of properties at 801 Oakmont, litter and garbage in front and back yards. Officers also spoke with the tenant at 144 N. Hollywood Blvd., who advised the scattered litter and junk on lot and behind building would be taken care of.

Love triangle: A Mingo Junction property owner said a man living on his property had pointed a gun in his face after he told him he wanted him to leave, Monday. The tenant told police he'd been having an "intimate relationship" with the property owner's wife for quite some time and he "was supposedly aware" of it, but when she found out her husband was involved with another woman things went sideways. He told deputies he thinks all of the "side relationships they all seem to be having are what caused the drama and fighting among the three of them." He said the property owner gave him three days to move out and when he came to see if he had vacated the property they exchanged words. He denied having or pointing a gun at the property owner and said he "decided to leave on foot and have another one of his lady friends pick him up." Deputies explained the eviction process to all three of them, then sent the man living there to meet his lady friend.
Wellsburg Police
Charged: Jason M. Jeter, 41, 1503 Pleasant Ave., Wellsburg, assault, disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance, Friday, for allegedly shouting profanity at an employee at a local business.
