Charged: Michael S. Wild Jr., 34, 2 South Ave., Beech Bottom, domestic battery, Tuesday.
Steubenville Police
Bad night: A Union Avenue resident reported being jumped inside his home but when police tried to speak with him he refused to talk, Tuesday. They were sent back to the residence several hours later after family members called for an ambulance to take him to the hospital for treatment of his earlier injuries. Police said they filed a domestic violence charge against Lakuwan A. Kelly, 30, 407 Union Ave., Steubenville, after a family member reported he’d pushed her off the porch into a bush and punched a juvenile in the eye, though she didn’t want to pursue charges on either count. Kelly denied assaulting anyone.
Violent: A city resident told police her boyfriend twisted her wrist and took her gun from her, Tuesday. Police tried to make contact with the boyfriend but said “he would not answer the door.” The female had no way to get back inside, but she told police he’s “regularly” violent toward her and that day he had demanded she help him do something, but she was cleaning the kitchen and declined. She said they started arguing so she went to another nearby house to avoid a confrontation and after several hours he showed up “demanding she make dinner” for him but when she suggested he go home and they “could talk tomorrow,” he became enraged and attacked her, “throwing everything in his path at her” before grabbing her wrist and twisting it. She alleges when he spotted her .22 pistol in her waistband, he grabbed it and “demanded she shoot him” before taking it himself. Police said she had a contusion on her arm and her wrist was swollen and red, and they found chairs, potted plants and other items strewn about the house where she’d taken refuge.
Door damaged: A downtown resident told police a man known to her punched her in the head, Tuesday. She said he came to her home “and began to beat on her door,” damaging it, then came inside an1d started arguing with her. She said he fled in a black Chevy Cruze after punching her. Police said they didn’t see any visible injuries to her, but her door was damaged.
Not wanted: Police were asked to remove a man who was refusing to leave mall property “after being asked (to do so) numerous times by Walmart and mall security,” Tuesday. They stood by while mall and Wal-Mart representatives informed the man he was no longer welcome there, then escorted him off the property.
Hit-skip: A Slack Street resident said her vehicle was damaged by a vehicle in the 500 block of Slack Street, Tuesday. Police checked a nearby camera and watched a silver van strike the vehicle.
Reported: A caller reported hearing five or six shots fired in the vicinity of Lincoln and Tweed avenues, Tuesday. Police said they thoroughly “checked the area and there was no evidence of shots fired.”
Cited: Gina Marie Paul, 33, 205 Canterbury Blvd., Steubenville, driving under suspension and expired plates.
