Window dressing: A man was taken into custody after he allegedly climbed through a window in the 200 block of Cunningham Lane to “take back his tattoo equipment,” Monday. DeVaughn Pastore, 31, of New Waterford was booked into the Jefferson County jail on an aggravated burglary charge. Police were initially called to the home about a stolen vehicle before learning the male allegedly involved had returned to the property and gained entry to the home through a window. When they caught up to the vehicle near the mid-town Speedway, police said he turned right onto Richland Avenue, coming to a sudden stop in the side parking lot of the pizza shop and jumped out with his hand in the air yelling for them to “end him.” As he was taken into custody police said Pastore told them he’d gone to the residence to get his equipment and take possession of the vehicle “because his aunt pays for it.”

In the way: A Hawthorne Court resident said she was in an alley near her home when a man blocked her way and would not let her pass, Tuesday. She said he eventually moved his vehicle slightly but it was still difficult for her to pass, and as she went by she said he took a picture of her. She said she and her children have had problems with the male harassing them in the past.”

Helped herself: A woman who’s been staying at a Canterbury Boulevard residence said she opened a checking account and put the woman she was staying with on it but she withdrew about $20,000 without her knowledge or permission, Tuesday. She said five or six checks were written on her account and signed by the other woman.

Shelter: Police were told homeless individuals were sleeping on a porch in the 300 block of North Fifth Street, Tuesday. The property owners told police they were aware of their presence and monitoring the situation.

On camera: Someone backed into car at a Sunset Boulevard business then fled the scene, Tuesday. Police said surveillance footage showed the driver got out of his car and surveyed the damage before leaving the area and said the vehicle that was struck had “functional damage” to the rear bumper. Police recognized the driver.

Tape delay: Detectives reviewed surveillance footage of two different thefts at Kroger, Tuesday. On Friday, employees said a thief walked out of the store without paying for $100 in merchandise and a $30 handcart while on Nov. 10, they said a woman known to them fled the store without paying for $500 worth of merchandise.

No return: Someone rented a concrete drill and chisel a month ago from a city business and never returned it, Tuesday. Employees said they’d tried several times to reach the renter by phone.

Served: Ronin Simmons, 27, Maryland Avenue, Steubenville, warrant for domestic violence, Tuesday; Anthony J. Stasiulewicz, 37, Harvard Boulevard, Steubenville, bench warrant, Tuesday.

Summoned: Bonnie Lee Hernandez, 45, no fixed address, misdemeanor theft, Tuesday. Police took Hernandez into custody after employees at J.C. Penney reported a female left the store in a gray Nissan with West Virginia plates without paying for merchandise in her possession. When the car was located downtown police said the female was driving and allegedly admitted taking four packages of mens socks, a pair of gloves and a wallet from the store.

Found: Deputies said Robert A. Atkinson, of Delroy had an outstanding warrant out of Carroll County and was transported to the county line, where deputies from that county took custody of him after a traffic stop on township Road 275, Amsterdam.

Being loud: A caller reported hearing “screaming and stuff crashing” and a woman yelling at a companion “to please stop (I) can’t breathe” at a Wintersville residence, Wednesday. Deputies said the couple initially ignored them but the woman eventually came to the door, though she refused to let them in until deputies told her they have a right to enter. She and her male companion insisted their disagreement was strictly verbal, and deputies said there was no evidence of a struggle or injuries to either party.

Absconded: A Jefferson County resident who had $50,000 socked away to cover final expenses for her and her husband said it has been stolen, Monday. She said she last saw the money Oct. 27 when she counted it and put it back in its hiding place again and told deputies no strangers had been in the house and only her children knew it was there.

Booked: Kirstie Marie Byers, 29, 309 Canterbury Blvd., Steubenville, obstructing justice, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, Monday. Byers was taken into custody after a Mingo Junction resident reported she was behaving erratically.

Attempted scam: A Hammondsville woman said she got a text purportedly from the post office about a package that couldn’t be delivered, and when she clicked the link they tried to get her to give them her bank information, Tuesday. She didn’t provide the details, but deputies advised her to watch her accounts anyway.

Theft: A Mingo Junction area resident told police someone stole a torpedo heater from her garage, Tuesday. She said a family member discovered it missing on Thanksgiving, but she last saw it about a month ago. She valued the heater at between $300 and $500 and said she’d check to see if anything else is missing.
